We LOVE to get out and go places, whether it be to the museum, shopping, or doctor’s appointments. We are always on the look out to find ways to get some school work in while driving, so I was happy to get the chance to review four CDs from Greathall Productions, inc.
When I started looking on their website to see what CDs I wanted to choose, I found a huge list of topics that I knew my kids would be interested in. I liked how the titles were broken up into age categories. It was such a HARD choice!
I finally chose: William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar and The Story of Rome, Gone West, Abraham Lincoln and the Heart of America, and Romeo and Juliet. I have to say again what a hard choice this was, and we will likely be purchasing some of the other titles for future trips.
We listened to Romeo and Juliet first. I am amazed at how Jim Weiss was able to move from character-to-character while having certain voices for each character. I was especially amazed as he switched from a female character’s voice to a male character’s voice and back again. The kids really enjoyed it, too.
One of our favorites was the one about Abraham Lincoln. DS10 LOVES Abraham Lincoln and always says that President Lincoln is his favorite president. He thoroughly enjoyed this CD! I thought there was a lot of detail about President Lincoln and events of those times that I don’t remember reading before.
Our other favorite was Gone West. A couple of years ago, DD13 and I read a great book about pioneers in the wagon trains. It was a topic that we both enjoyed. Gone West covers the Explorers: The Louisiana Purchase, Lewis and Clark, and Sacagawea. Then, we moved on to the Pioneers: Mr. Fulton’s Steamboat, the Oregon Trail, and the railroad. It was quite comprehensive and held our attention completely.
I’ve been looking over the list to see what I would like to purchase, and I’m leaning toward, Greek Myths; Women in Blue or Gray; Masters of the Renaissance: Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and more; and Thomas Jefferson’s America. There are actually quite a few more that I want to get, but well… Not all at once!
Each CD sells for $13.45 plus shipping and handling. Which ones would you get?
