We schooled through most of the summer, and today, we started our new curriculum. We have switched up our History and changed to Mystery of History. I really had not heard much about Mystery of History until this Spring/Summer, but I was so impressed by what I saw! I like the fact that it can be used by a wide variety of grades and has activities that are age appropriate.
Today, we read about Adam and Eve. The suggested activities just really made the story come to life. DS9 was to use Play-doh to make an unique animal. Then, he had to name his animal, just like Adam had to name the animals. DS9 called his animal a J-Rex.
DD12 was to draw a self-portrait to drive home that we are made in God’s image. Her father and I are really impressed with how well she did with this picture.
We are sure looking forward to more of our Mystery of History lessons! What History curriculum are you using this year?

I think we’ll be doing a different history curriculum next year and so I’m on the lookout. What did you end up thinking of this one after using it for awhile?

Layne, the kids and I have really enjoyed Mystery of History. It is written in a conversational story form and really holds the interest. It is a highly Christian based curriculum, and I really like how the author brings the Biblical together with what else was happening at the same time. There are activities suggested for each lesson and is broken down by age, so the curriculum can really be used with a wide range of ages.
