Escape the Cold in Kissimmee Florida

The last couple of years, we have spent part of our vacation in and near Kissimmee Florida.  There are so many things to do in that area, and staying in Kissimmee put us right in the middle of everything that we wanted to do.  While there are a lot of things to do in Kissimmee itself, there are also quite a few things to do close by.  There were also things that we wanted to do on both coasts, so Kissimmee made a great central location to stay.  If you would like to check out vacation rentals in Kissimmee, you can find out more information here.

Hope and Winter at Clearwater Marine Aquarium

In 2014, Marvel Boy wanted to go see Hope and Winter at Clearwater Marine Aquarium.  It was an easy drive from the Kissimmee area, and we were able to have a “home base” of sorts for whatever we wanted to do.  Marvel Boy LOVED his trip to see Winter, and he would really like to go back there someday.

Beach

While we were in Clearwater for the day, we watched the sunset over the beach.  After a late supper, we headed back to Kissimmee as we planned to stay closer to “home” the next day.

SeaWorld

On that trip, we also spent a day at SeaWorld.  While the rides were fun, we especially loved watching the animals.  Marvel Boy and Songbird both loved riding Antarctica: Empire of the Penguins.  It was fun watching the penguins interact with each other and the people watching.

Disney Springs

Kissimmee is also close to Walt Disney World.  It’s an easy jaunt over to Disney Springs for dinner and shopping.  After all, there is so much for everyone there:  bowling, movies, restaurants, and souvenir shopping.  Marvel Boy could spend hours at the Lego Store.

Disney Dream at Port Canaveral

Another thing that is close enough to the Kissimmee area to drive is Port Canaveral.  In 2014, we drove from our “home base” to Port Canaveral to sail on the Disney Dream.

Best Western Premier Saratoga Resort Villas

In 2015, though, we at the Best Western Premier Saratoga Resort Villas in Kissimmee after our Disney cruise.  There were a few things that we wanted to do in a short amount of time, and this location was central to everything.

Give Kids the World Village

Marvel Boy and I walked the Gingerbread Run 5K in November 2015 to help raise money for Give Kids the World Village.  If you have not heard of Give Kids the World, make sure to look them up online to see what they have to offer kids with terminal illnesses.

Medieval Times

The evening after the 5K, we went to Medieval Times in Kissimmee.  It was actually close to our hotel.  There are quite a few different attractions in Kissimmee to check out, and don’t forget historic downtown Kissimmee.

Cinderella Castle

We ended our trip with a walk down Mainstreet USA in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.  Well, this was part of our last day.  Kissimmee is a great place to stay in the middle of the action while still having a piece of quiet, depending on where you stay in Kissimmee.

We tend to vacation in Florida in late Fall or early Winter.  We choose this time, so it’s not too hot for Marvel Boy but also because it is usually a great treat to go down to the warmth from the cold up north.  If you are interested in finding out more about staying in Kissimmee and all it has to offer, make sure to grab your FREE vacation planning magazine!

Don’t forget!  Experience Kissimmee is giving away THREE vacations (and daily prizes) in their “Escape the Cold” giveaway!  Make sure to visit their giveaway page to find out how you can enter!
