10 Snacks to Take on a Road Trip

10 Snacks to Take on a Road Trip

Heading on a road trip calls for bringing lots of snacks.  Since you are limited on what you can do in the car, it’s important to have lots of yummy snacks to bring with you.  The right snacks will help keep your mind focused and your tummy full.  Here are 10 snacks you should take on a road trip with you.

Something to drink

Although a liquid isn’t a snack, it’s something you should bring on a road trip with you.  You’ll need something to wash down those delicious snacks.  Water is probably the best thing to bring; since, it’s not loaded with sugar.

Cheese & Crackers

For a little crunch and a fulfilling snack, bring cheese and crackers with you!  You won’t regret packing this delicious snack for the road trip ahead.

Cut up fruits and veggies

Although it may not always be your first choice while on the road, fruits and veggies are brilliant to bring with you on a road trip.  They’re healthy and full of nutrients to help you feel strong and focused during your trip.

Homemade trail mix

Sure, you could bring trail mix from the store, but it’s so much better to make your own trail mix.

Frozen yogurt

Bring along frozen tube yogurt for the kids.  It’s nice to have something healthy for them to snack on while on the road.  Plus, you could use the frozen yogurt tubes to keep the cheese cold.

Slammers Superfood Snacks

Slammers Protein + Organics

Slammers snacks are basically a superfood smoothie with 7 g of protein (the equivalent protein of 1 egg). Slammers has no added sugar, nothing artificial, and contains no nuts or gluten.

Slammers

It’s easy to throw these in a snack bag for a road trip or into a lunch box for those going back to school.  My son got to try Pomegranate Grape Crush and Watermelon Kiwi Burst.  He liked them both, but he liked the Watermelon Kiwi Burst better.

Slammers at Target

There are four containers in each box, and the price at our Target was $5.49 per box.  You can find these at Target, Safeway, Public, HEB, and Ralph’s.

Homemade muffins

Let’s be honest, there’s something delicious about homemade muffins.  Whip some up before you leave, and you’ll be set while you’re in the car.  Here is my recipe for Disneyland Pumpkin Muffins and a recipe for Peanut Butter Banana Muffins.

Turkey Wraps

A light “snack” to bring with you on a road trip are turkey wraps.  They make a healthy and fulfilling snack while you’re on the road.  If you are a vegetarian, look for protein snacks like peanuts or peanut butter and pretzels.

Dried cereal

Sometimes when you are on the road, you just want something crunchy.  That’s where dried cereal comes in.  You can snack on the healthy stuff and the not-so-healthy stuff.

Chex mix or popcorn

Sort of like trail mix or dried cereal, Chex mix is something awesome to take on a road trip with you.  You can make many different flavors to satisfy all of your crunchy cravings.  Popcorn is a nice crunchy and filling snack that is easy to pack.  You can take microwavable bags to have in the hotel room or pop it before you leave to snack on the road.

What snacks do you like to pack while you’re on a road trip?
