As you might see in the About Me section(under the You Might Also Like… stuff), music is my life! You can almost always hear me singing a verse of one of my favorite songs or see me listening to said favorite songs on my iPod. I’ve had a spot in my heart for Selah’s music for quite some time. So, I was quite surprised and glad when Mom asked if I would review Selah’s newest album, You Amaze Us.
Selah – You Amaze Us
For those of you who don’t know what Selah is, allow me to explain. Selah is a Christian music group that consists of three members: Todd Smith, Allan Hall, and Amy Perry. Starting out with Todd Smith and his sister singing with Allan Hall, Selah has grown in popularity over time. The roster has also changed once or twice. The sister left and another singer named Melodie Crittenden sang with the group for a while. Later on, Amy Perry joined on and Allen Hall got a bigger role. Selah is known for their ability to make stunning music that praises the One who gave them their voices.
The song list is as follows:
- You Amaze Us
- Oh Our Lord
- At the Cross
- More and More Of You
- Be (My Heart, My Hands, My Voice)
- Just As I Am
- Soon and Very Soon
- O the Blood
- I’d Rather Have Jesus
- The Old Rugged Cross
- Victory In Jesus
- Nearing Home
- In the Garden
- We Must Not (Bonus Track from The Insanity of God)
As I was listening to this music, I looked for Selah’s classic harmonics with music that draws you in paired with lyrics that praise God. I found all three of these. They did such a wonderful job with this album. This album has a few old favorites, as well as a couple of new songs. This has quickly become one of my favorite Selah albums. Mom and I have even discussed which album is best, You Amaze Us or Bless The Broken Road (another one of my favorites that came out long before now). I was quite surprised to see “In The Garden” in this album. My mom once sang this song on Friday nights and I have fallen in love with this heartfelt song. Other ones that I enjoy include: “You Amaze Us”, “At The Cross”, “I’d Rather Have Jesus”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, and “Victory In Jesus”.
Long story short, I looked for classic Selah, and I found it and more. This album has mostly old favorites, with a few of them having been given a face lift, as well as a few new songs. If you are looking for some good Sabbath music or are trying to find some good Selah music, I would highly recommend this album. You can buy this album on at Family Christian Bookstore or on the Family Christian website. The CD is currently priced at $13.99.
Notes from Mom: This album combines the sounds of the following styles of music: Hymns, Worship Music, African, and Gospel. Not all in the same song, of course. The harmonies are just stunning, and I love listening to this album while driving to work.
Note: I was given this album to review if I would write a post about it in exchange. All of my opinions are my own and no one else’s.

Oh you are so lucky to have been given this CD to review. I am hoping I will be lucky too and win one! My husband Todd and I both love Christian contempory and Christian worship/praise music as our very favorites. I don’t know what my favorite song on this cd is yet because I have not heard them all yet. I did listen to the Title Song on youtube and absolutely love it. Excited to even have a possible chance to win this! Thank you for this giveaway opportunity to you and sponsor!
