Before I start, I want to make sure that everyone knows that I received a box full of goodies from Disney, MomSelect, American Tourister, HP, and Craisins, among others. So, by FTC guidelines, I need to tell you that I was compensated with these goodies in exchange for sharing my DisneySide with all of you. However, anyone who knows me will tell you that I don’t need a reason or box of goodies to talk about and share my love of all things Disney! In fact, this morning, a co-worker said that she guessed the explosion of Disney in the break room was my doing. Yep! I can’t deny that…
Inside this box was a suitcase (Duffy not included). DS11 claimed this suitcase and LOVES to roll it around the kitchen, even now weeks later. I can’t think MomSelect and American Tourister enough for the joy this particular suitcase has given my son!
But, there was more than just the suitcase… You can see that this suitcase was packed with great things for a party. Don’t you just love the picture with Mickey and Minnie? Let me show you a better look…
There were Mickey Mouse plates, napkins, and cups. Also, Mickey Mouse shaped cookie cutters and The Chew measuring cups. And games, decorations, and Craisins. I’ll talk about the HP photo card pack a little later in this post.
We don’t really need a reason to party around here, but we actually had several reasons and had two parties. We started with DS11’s birthday. He turned eleven during the timeframe the parties were supposed to happen, so we had a small party at home. We hung decorations, including DS11’s favorite blue Mickey, from the ceiling fan over the table and prepared the Bingo game that was included in our DisneySide goodie box.
After we set up for the party, it was time to frost the cake. Now, DS11 is enthralled with The Muppets and can’t wait for The Muppets Most Wanted to come out. But when I was looking for cake decorations, I also found a Phineas and Ferb decoration that I thought DS11 would like, so I bought both. While I did get both, I bought the frosting to use Phineas and Ferb as the primary decoration with trees and grass.
However, when DS11 saw the decorations, he decided he wanted Kermit and Miss Piggy as his primary decoration, so I set off to recreate the stage I had seen in the picture, only in Phineas and Ferb colors. Oops! Next time, I’ll get enough frosting colors to cover both… So, with Kermit and Miss Piggy on “stage”, the cake was ready to go, and the party began.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, I have taken a part-time job at one of the local hospitals. Everyday I’m there, I show my DisneySide. Every set of scrubs that I wear has a Disney theme. I have Mickey Mouse, Eeyore, and Bambi scrub tops, and I plan to add more in the future. I find that Disney scrubs are a good way to start a conversation. Anyway… I decided to show my DisneySide in a little bigger way than usually by bringing some of the items from the goodie box with some cupcakes, drinks, and Disney treats to work one night. So, we talked about Walt Disney World as we ate.
On to the HP Photo Cards… HP has a new service called TwoSmiles. It’s a cool service where you can buy gift cards and print them out on the HP Photo Cards with a personalized card. Don’s birthday was less than twelve days after DS11’s, so I made him a card and purchased a $25 gift card for Starbucks that printed out right on the card. There are several great retailers that are a part of TwoSmiles!
Are you a Disney fan? I want to invite you to share your DisneySide with your friends and family, too! You can also plan your own DisneySide Celebration with the help of the DisneySide Celebration website full of great planning tips and games.
Thank you to Disney and MomSelect for choosing me to be a part of this awesome DisneySide promotion! Also, thank you to the other sponsors: HP, Craisins, American Tourister, and any others that I may have missed. Thank you so much!
