Thank you to Tricia Goyer for allowing me to be a member of her launch team and the opportunity to review “The Promise Box”.
The Promise Box is the second book in the “Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors” series by Tricia Goyer. I have read several Amish fiction books before, but I had not read one that was written by Tricia Goyer. I didn’t know what I was missing until I got my copy of The Promise Book. Once I started reading, I read late into the night and into the early morning. I couldn’t stop reading.
As the story of Lydia unfolded… A woman who was raised with the Amish, left to live in the city, and returns for the funeral of the women she called Mem. She finds that her mother had a “promise box” – a box filled with promises and scripture. It is in this box, that Lydia begins to learn the truth of her childhood.
Meanwhile, young Amish men were drawn to the town of West Kootenai, Montana every Spring to get resident status to be able to hunt in the Fall. However, animals are not the only creatures being hunted. This was prime hunting ground for the bachelors to find an Amish wife. As Lydia learns more about her childhood, she finds herself falling in love with one of the Amish bachelors.
