Bohemian Soapery began as a way for owner Christina to stay at home with her two children. According to Christina’s “About” page, she has sensitive skin and has dealt with skin allergies off and on. She decided that instead of wasting money on soap that would irritate her skin, she would make her own. Christina only uses the best local ingredients that she can because she believes in local businesses working together and helping each other. I LOVE that philosophy! That is why I LOVE to help promote small business here on this blog!
Christina makes her soaps in small batches, so she may not always have the same scents. However, she seems to always have soaps and other items for the current holiday. Currently, she has a few Valentine’s products available.
I received three different types of soap to review. The first one that my daughter and I tried is the one above. It is really hard to see in the picture, but this soap has yellow petals in it. It is a Calendula-infused French-milled Castile Soap. I think that of the three, this was actually my least favorite. I like soaps with lather, and I don’t think this one held up in the lather category. It smelled nice, but it just seemed like I was taking off a layer of the soap without much lather happening.
The next one is a Lavender Shaving Soap. This soap is made with natural lavender, peppermint, and eucalyptus essential oils PLUS sea clay for added slip while shaving. So, I tried this one out, and I was impressed with the lather and slip available with this soap. My daughter also liked it better than the Calendula soap previously mentioned. It had a nice scent to it and could be used very easily for shaving. Great soap!
The last of the three soaps was a Spiced Mahogany French-milled Soap. It is made with castor oil for extra lather. I felt this scent was a more manly scent and passed it off to hubby to try. I’m pretty sensitive to sharp scents, and I found it a little strong for my personal taste. My husband found it a nice soap with a good amount of lather.
I like the variety that Christina has in her Etsy shop, and I hope that you will check out her products. If you are looking for a homemade, boutique-style soap, Bohemian Soapery is a great place to shop!
