You may have have seen my promotional post (note: the giveaway on that post is over) about Toydle Forts. I was so thankful to Brenda for arranging things so that the group could post an initial promotional post, and I could give this to my children for Christmas. This was their favorite present, according to both children. In fact, DS8 still says that this was the BEST Christmas ever.
Everyday, since my children were given their Toydle Fort, they have asked to put it together. I think the thing they like best is that there are no directions. This toy is ALL about imagination.
What can you imagine is the inspiration for the above design? Well, DS8 wanted to watch Gilligan’s Island, so we designed two huts connected by a supply hut.
Here it is with the blankets draped on. I think you can tell what side is the girls’ hut and which side is the boys’ hut. The quilt on the floor in the center was supposed to be the entry way, but quite often it ended up to be the cat’s pad.
I am extremely impressed with the quality and versatility of this product! Another thing that I like is that it is made in the USA and has a lifetime guarantee. All the parts come in a large duffel bag to keep things together. At first, it was difficult for DD12 to get the PVC pipes to fit securely into the blocks. We found that this eased with use and a good kitchen gripper helped immensely.
There are two sizes of forts available (prices here), and I reviewed the large fort. While we have built a very large sprawling hut, we still haven’t used all the pieces. We had 2 blocks and 10 straight PVC pieces left over after building the above hut. The one thing I wish there were more of is clips. We received 8 clips to help keep blankets and sheets on the structure, and we didn’t find that this was enough with the way we built our designs. One thing to note is that there weren’t any coverings provided with the forts, you will need to use sheets and blankets.
{Just to insert: DD12 just came over to ask if she could put up the Toydle…}
My husband and I both feel that this product is worth EVERY cent of the price! I hope that you have the opportunity to purchase a Toydle Fort. Your kids will LOVE it! Another side note: DS8’s Occupational Therapist thought this was a really good product and hopes to get one for their department. It worked on DS’s fine motor and gross motor skills, along with his motor planning.
