I received both of these books free of charge in hopes that I would share my thoughts with you.

Grace Unplugged

Were you ever rebellious as your were growing up?  I wasn’t really, other than maybe listening to music that my father didn’t approve of.  Grace, on the other hand, went through a huge rebellious stage in her life.  I guess she was technically old enough, but she ran away from home to follow her dreams of having a successful music career.

Grace’s father was a musician who had one hit long before.  When that one hit became popular again, his friend came to coax him into rerecording the song.  When he refuses, Grace decides that maybe she could do it and submits an audition tape to her father’s friend, Mossy.  Mossy convinces the record label that Grace would be the perfect person to do a cover of the song.  With that, Grace leaves home without telling her parents and flies across the country to Los Angeles.

The story of Grace, Grace Unplugged, follows her adventures in California as she pursues her dream to be a famous rock star.  But what happens when what she is asked to do conflicts with the Christian values she was raised with?  How can combine the requirements of fame with God?  Will she stand firm?

Grace Unplugged will be released in movie form on October 4, 2013.  What is sad is that this movie will be shown in very few towns nationwide.  If you click the previous link, you will be taken to the movie website where you see if there is a location near you.

In the movie, Grace is given the book Own It.  I personally have not had time to read this book yet as life has gotten very busy recently.  However, I truly like the premise of this book.  It discusses the benefits of “owning” your faith.  Is your faith yours, or are you just practicing it because your parents or friends do?

One winner will receive one copy of each book.  If you would like to win, please read the rules below and enter on the Rafflecopter widget.

Rules: Giveaway starts at 12:00 am EDT on September 26, 2013 and ends at 11:59 pm EDT on October 9, 2013. Open to U.S. residents 18 years old and older.  Shipping to U.S. only.  No purchase is necessary to win. Void where prohibited. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries collected. The winner will be chosen by Random.org via Rafflecopter and will have 48 hours to respond after being contacted by email.  Please make sure to use a valid email address.
