Fall Crafts at Oriental Trading

I received the crafts listed below free of charge in hopes that I might share my experience with you.

Give Thanks pillow pieces

Oriental Trading allowed me to pick out a few Fall crafts in order to share my thoughts with you about their selections.  We chose a few crafts that would help fill our home with the Thanksgiving feeling, but I also chose crafts based on the amount of work on fine motor skills.  Both kids have to work on their finger strength and dexterity, and I like that there are so many crafts available to give them arts and crafts while working on Occupational Therapy.  It is such a great combination!

We started with the fleece “Give Thanks” pillow.  I love that the strips are pre-cut and all the supplies are already gathered together, including the stuffing.  For DS10, this was not only an exercise in finger strength, it was also an exercise in motor planning.

Knotting Fabric

Definitely make sure that all the pieces are lined up correctly, or else, the tying may get off.  DS10 found this out the hard way, and it took a while to untie quite a few pieces, line them up, and tie them again.

Give Thanks Pillow

As you can see, this pillow is a decent size, not huge though.  It’s a good size for an accent pillow.  The kids immediately took their finished pillows to the “kid cave” and put them in their chairs.

Magnetic Picture Frame pieces

We also received magnetic fall-themed photo frames.  It’s nice that all the pieces are included, except the glue.

Magnetic Picture Frame Finished

Here is the finished version.  I love photo frames like this because they are nice to keep on the refrigerator door.  This version is currently sold out, but here is a different version that is themed more toward Thanksgiving.

Weaving pieces

As I said, I like to choose crafts that challenge my son in several different ways.  This one was certainly a winner in that way, and he worked this craft like a champ!  This is a pumpkin weaving mat.

Weaving the pumpkin

The strips come pre-perforated, so all you have to do is gently pull them apart.  I did find the pumpkin shapes to stick together somewhat, so it’s best to make sure that there is only one before starting to weave.

Finished Pumpkins

Here are the three that we did, and I think they turned out great.  Obviously, I had a penchant for choosing items that were really popular as these particular mats have sold out, too.  However, there are a couple of other great options for weaving mats.  There is a fall colors mat and colorful leaf weaving mats.   I really like the look of the colorful leaf weaving mats!

Turkey

Finally, we received the “Enter with a Thankful Heart” turkey craft.   This is such a great reminder of what the holiday is all about.  Being thankful for what we have.  And I love the fact that Oriental Trading has such a great variety of crafts that have a Christian message to them!

Just a little something about the foam crafts that we did.  These crafts do not work well with glue stick.  Glue dots are a little iffy, too.  I know that Oriental Trading sells glue for their crafts; however, I have not tried their glue.  Just make sure that you use a glue that is good and tacky.

Oriental Trading seems to always have deals, so I haven’t listed prices in this post.  Please click on the links to be taken directly to the items to see the most current pricing.

Disclosure:  I received the above crafts free of charge for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, nor was I required to post a positive review.  All opinions are mine.
