Educational Insights is a company devoted to providing learning products for children of a variety of ages.  My favorite line from Educational Insights is their GeoSafari line, so I was excited when they offered to send me one of their GeoSafari Omega Refractor Telescopes to review.  Actually, my daughter was excited because it arrived right before her birthday.

On the back of the box, it tells a little about what you can expect to see with the telescope.

It also tells the technical specifications.

This is where the interest really picked up!  Everything was packed concisely which made it easy to find the parts and to put them together.  There was no problem finding the right pieces and where they went.

Soon, the last part was put on, and it was time to take it outside to check it out.

It sure made things seem much closer than they actually were!

There are several pros and cons to this particular telescope.  Pros:  Great beginning scope for ages 8-14, light-weight, easy to assemble, easy to focus during the day.  Cons:  It is best left together, so it would be good to have a place to store it.  We have disassembled it part way.  Also, it is difficult to focus at night.  I’m sure that we will eventually get the hang of it, but it will definitely take some more practice.

How would you like to win one of these telescopes worth $129.99? Please read the rules below and enter via the Rafflecopter.

Rules: Giveaway starts at 12:01 am EST on October 17, 2012 and ends at 12:01 am EST on November 1, 2012. Open to U.S. and Canadian citizens 18 years old and older. U.S. and Canada shipping only. No purchase is necessary to win. Void where prohibited. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries collected. The winner will be chosen by Random.org via Rafflecopter and will have 48 hours to respond after being contacted by email. Please make sure to use a valid email address. Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ do not endorse this or sponsor this giveaway. Nor are Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ affiliated with this giveaway in any way. Additional rules here.

Disclosure: I received a free telescope for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, and the opinions stated above are my own.

We have all wanted a telescope for years, but we’re just too cheap to invest in one. I think Gracie would benefit from it the most, but I can see our whole family going out no clear nights and using it! Great giveaway!

I have wanted a telescope for so long. To see the Galaxy, rockets and sky much clearer than my eyes. I like Science and want to be a role model for family.
Thank you for the chance to continue educating myself.

I want this for me! But is that terrible? Okay, for my 13 year old daughter. We lived in China for most of her childhood and never saw stars (overcast, polluted skies). Now that we are in USA, we love star gazing.
