Give the Gift of Comfort – Arctic Cool
Last month, our family went on a vacation down to Florida and a cruise to Mexico. Can we say warm/hot temperatures? As many of my readers know, my son is on the Autism Spectrum. There are several things that bother him and send him over the edge. One of those things is heat. We try to vacation in the fall/winter to avoid hot temperatures, but that doesn’t always mean that we always avoid those warmer temperatures…
I have seen Arctic Cool ads pass through my Facebook feed, but we had never tried any of their products. I thought our trip to Florida would be the perfect time to try a shirt from Arctic Cool. (Arctic Cool sent me one of their shirts free to try out in order to share our experience with others who might benefit from the cooling properties of their shirts.)
Before I go into our experience with this shirt, let me share with you how the Hydrofreeze X technology is supposed to work. According to the Arctic Cool website, “HydroFreeze X uses your own perspiration to cool you down as you move. The harder you work, the harder HydroFreeze X works to help you. The technology actually moves moisture away from the skin and circulates it through the fabric, keeping you cooler, longer.” The shirt is made from “92% polyester/ 8% spandex textile blend”.
When we first got the shirt, I was amazed at how soft it is and that there wasn’t a tag in the neck. This was definitely a good start! The shirt has a “slicky” feel to it and forms to the body. It was very comfortable, and Marvel Boy couldn’t wait to wear the shirt because it felt so comfortable. That was a good first impression, but how would it work in the heat?
My son put this shirt through the paces at both Legoland Florida and in the Caribbean. We started in Florida. The information about the shirt said that the cooling features can be activated with moisture, so Marvel Boy happily headed for various mist dispensers throughout the park.
As Florida standards go, this was not the hottest of days; however, it was above the usual point where we see meltdowns due to heat. However, after spending all day in the park, we still had a happy, smiling teenage boy with no signs of meltdown! As he dashed from one end of the park to the other, he was still in good spirits and ready for more.
I’m really impressed with the difference this shirt made in our trip to the park! It was comfortable for him to wear but the cooling features of this shirt just made this shirt invaluable! I will be purchasing more Arctic Cool shirts for him to wear next summer.
Disclosure – Arctic Cool sent my son a shirt for free to try out. All opinions are those of my family’s and are not influenced by anything else.
