Reuse Plastic Bags

10 Ways to Reuse Plastic Bags Around the House

I don’t know about you, but we have a ton of plastic bags from the grocery store.  That is, unless you live in California…  Sure, we can use reusable shopping bags, and we do at times.  However, I have found several unique ways to use plastic bags around our home.  Check out 10 ways we reuse plastic bags around our house right here:

  1. Trash bags – Most of you probably already use plastic bags as trash bags around your home.  I also place a plastic bag at the bottom of the trash can to keep gunk from reaching the bottom.
  2. Scraps – Not everyone has a garbage disposal, and sometimes you have to throw leftovers in the trash.  We take the old scraps we’re not using and place them in a plastic grocery bag before placing them into the big trash can.
  3. Plastic gloves – Need to pick up something gross, but don’t have plastic gloves?  Reuse plastic bags as gloves when you are in desperate need.
  4. Insulation – If you have cracks around window seals or need to insulate something, use plastic bags to help keep air from flowing in.
  5. Vehicle trash bags – Keep a bundle of plastic bags in your glove box to help keep trash at bay in your vehicle.  It’s nice to grab and reuse a plastic bag when you need it!
  6. Store dirty clothing – At any age your child can throw up, get dirty, or rip their clothing in a matter of seconds.  Carry an extra plastic bag with you just in case this happens.
  7. Securing glass – Anytime you go shopping and need to secure glass, reuse a plastic bag.  Plastic bags make the perfect tool to secure your valuables.
  8. Frost protector – If you live in the land of ‘cold’, then consider using a plastic bag to cover up your plants in case of a frost.  You put a lot of money into those plants, so why not protect them?
  9. Store items – When you store items, consider putting them in plastic bags first.  You get a chance to reuse plastic bags, but it also protects your items from moths, mice, and stink-bugs as they wait in storage.
  10. Crafts – Plastic bags come in handy when you’re trying to do crafts.  You can use the bags for storage or even for decoration, use your imagination.

If all else fails, don’t be afraid to recycle your plastic bags instead of throwing them into the landfill. What are some ways you reuse plastic bags around your home?
