Kermit

My son BEGGED me to take him to see Muppets Most Wanted on opening day.  Because of his sensitivities, we normally wait until the movie has been out a few weeks to let the crowds die down.  It’s usually a more comfortable experience for him; however, he is a HUGE Muppets fan.  Thursday night, I set about checking to see what time the first showing would be the next day.  When I found out the first showing was at 11:30, I thought it might be possible to go.

Friday morning, I told him that we were going to see Muppets Most Wanted.  He jumped up and down with excitement.  We grabbed Kermit and DS11’s ear protectors and headed out the door.  We got to the theater about 30 minutes before the doors opened and were happy to see that we were the first ones there.  See, DS11 feels more comfortable sitting in the back seat, so we needed to make sure we got there early to get that back row.  After the doors opened, both kids and Kermit took off to get their seats for the movie.

After the previews of upcoming movies, we saw the Party Central short.  It was SO FUNNY!  We love all things Monsters INC and Monsters U, so Party Central was certain to please us.  With door stations aplenty and door jammin’, this short will have you rolling with laughter!

Then, the movie started, and DS11 with Kermit was quickly drawn into the plot.  We had already purchased the soundtrack, so he was singing along.  He really enjoyed this movie with all the action: explosions and “moves worthy  of ninjas” according to my son.  Of course, seeing Sam the Eagle and the Interpol inspector cramming into the tiny car that went everywhere was hilarious!

Muppets Most Wanted has a typical Muppet plot/theme, so if you are looking for the qualities of Frozen in this movie, you won’t find it.  Having said that, I thought it was a good movie.  I just mention it that way because I saw some of my friends on Facebook comparing the two movies, and I’m thinking that some of the reviews online may do the same thing because the release of Frozen to Blu-ray and the release of Muppets Most Wanted in theaters was probably too close together.  If you are a Muppets fan, you will likely enjoy Muppets Most Wanted.

Muppets Most Wanted Printables:

I have some fun activity sheets for you and the kids to do.  Are you homeschoolers?  Some of these might work great for a little art.  I’ll include links below the picture that lead directly to the PDFs to download, so you can print them out.

Maleficent:

Now, I want to shift gears a little.  In watching the previews, I saw the Maleficent preview.  I’ve mentioned this movie on the blog before but wasn’t really sure that I wanted to see the movie.  I’m more of an animated film type of person; however, after seeing the preview, I want to see it.  It wouldn’t be appropriate for DS11, but it looks like a neat movie.  Unfortunately, I will probably have to wait until it comes out on Blu-ray to see it, but I can’t wait!  Here is a preview for you.
