Oriental Trading Box

My family received this box of free Christmas crafts free of charge for the purpose of the following review.

We LOVE crafts, and we LOVE Christmas!  This time of the year is filled with baking and crafts here at our house, so we were ecstatic to receive these awesome crafts from Oriental Trading!  They have such a huge selection of crafts and stocking stuffers that it’s hard to decide what to choose.

Wooden Nutcracker Ornaments and Primary Colors Acrylic Paint:

Wooden Nutcrackers

First, we opened this box of the wooden nutcracker ornaments.  Overall, I thought the quality was good but felt the wrapping/protection could have been a little better.  The first one I unwrapped had the nose broken off of it.  I was able to glue it back on, but it would have been better if they had been protected better.

Paint

We also received this selection of paints ($12) in order to paint the nutcrackers.  It really was the perfect combination for this project and will probably work well with other projects we come up with.

Painting Nutcrackers

We covered the table with paper and started to paint.  DS10 has a fascination with nutcrackers, so he really enjoyed this project!  In fact, both kids painted a couple of nutcrackers that first day.

Finished Nutcrackers

Here are a few of the finished nutcracker ornaments.  Actually, we put some festive wrapping paper on our mantle and lined the nutcrackers up there.  It’s a great centerpiece!

Button Wreath Ornament:

We also got the Button Wreath Ornament craft ($6.50 for 12)!  This is not only great for decorating, but it is great for working with the fingers.  This is a great type of craft for DS10’s fingers and motor planning!

But DD14 loves this kind of craft, too!  It’s just a lot of fun to make!

2014 Photo Frame Calendar:

Customizable Calendar

This craft is much more than a craft…  It is something that will last all year long!  My kids LOVE customized calendars, and they normally get customized Disney calendars every year.  The cost for customized Disney calendars is really steep, so I was looking for an alternative for next year.  I found it at Oriental Trading!  Notice the blank space at the top of this calendar?

Calendar with Picture

It is a spot for putting a picture!  You can put a different picture in each month and make an very inexpensive customized calendar!  At $3.00 a piece, this is a steal!  The kids are currently trying to decide which photos to use each month.

Winter Activity Pad:

Winter Activity Pad

These activity pads are great to do either at home or on the road.  They are small enough to fit into a purse in case you might need to entertain your child while out at the bank or doctor’s office.  (You will need crayons…)  At $6.25 for a dozen, there’s enough to share with friends.

Wordsearch

I didn’t see a target age listed, so I wanted to share a page to give you an idea if this might be a good fit for your child or not.

Oriental Trading has so many fun things to choose from!  If you are looking for holiday crafts, make sure to check out their website!  They always seem to be having a sale going!  In fact, it seems like their stock seems to come and go quickly.  If any of these items are sold out, you can find their Christmas crafts through this link.

Disclosure:  I received the above products free of charge for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, nor was I required to give a positive review.  All opinions are mine.

How fun! I want to make some cute little nutcrackers too! My favorite Christmas craft when I was a kid was sequin and Styrofoam ball ornaments. They took FOREVER but were always so pretty.
