Angry for Savings with Walmart Family Mobile

My son is an Angry Birds fan.  In a big way!  He watched previews of The Angry Birds Movie leading up to the release of the movie in theaters.  He wanted to see it in the theater; however, we decided to wait until it was available to buy online.  Well, that time came, and we headed online to purchase it.

Do you have kids who are big Angry Birds fans?  Here’s an easy Angry Birds craft to keep your kids’ hands busy while watching their new movie!

Angry Bird Supplies (1)

When I headed over to Walmart to pick up my new Samsung Galaxy On5 ($119 at the time of this post) with Walmart Family Mobile, I took a side trip through the craft area to grab some supplies.  Of course, I needed yarn in various colors, but I also needed some glue, poms, and googly eyes.

Starting

We started with a simple short length of yarn on the floor.  I was making Red, so my yarn is red.

Angry Bird Body

Then, I wound a large amount of yarn around my fingers as above.  The more yarn you use; the more full the body of the bird will be.

Tying the yarn together

After I finished winding my yarn, I peeled it off my hand and laid it on top of the string.  Then, I tightly tied the string around the mound of yarn right down the center.

Making the pom pom (1)

As you can see, this left me with loops at the top and bottom.  Then, I cut the loops open on both ends.  I took the scissors and evened up the lengths of some of the longer strings.

Cat approved

The cat had been watching us and chasing yarn up to this point.  Now, she came over for a closer look at the bird bodies.  She seemed to approve.

Making the eyes (1)

Now, it was time to put on the eyes.  I took a couple of the smaller poms and glued the eyes to them.  Then, I let them sit long enough to dry.

Putting on the eyes

After the glue was dry, I glued the poms with eyes on them to the body of Red.

Completing the Angry Birds

Then, we used pieces of felt to make the beaks, feathers, and eyebrows.  Making these birds are a fun way to work on those fine motors skills without telling the kids you are working.

I was not surprised to see who chose what color of yarn.  My son grabbed the blue, my daughter grabbed the yellow, and I took red.  The poor green yarn just sat there until someone is ready to make one of the pigs.  Which color bird do you thing your child would want to make first?

Walmart Family Mobile Display

I did mention Walmart Family Mobile earlier.  Walmart Family Mobile PLUS gives unlimited talk, text, data (10GB 4G LTE) plus a free movie rental (new release $7 value) on VUDU every month, per line for $49.88.  Well, it might not be unlimited data, as it lists 10GB; however, I personally have never reached 10GB, even when I was without wifi for a couple of weeks.  I love a larger amount of data to use during my break/lunch at work.  While my work has wifi, it isn’t always reliable, and I often find myself using my phone data.  The extra amount with Walmart Family Mobile Plus is certainly a nice bonus.

The free movie rental every month with the Walmart Family Mobile Plus will really come in handy when trying to keep up with all the great new movies coming out this summer!  What a great way to gather the family and spend time together while utilizing the movie bonus, especially with how easy it was to set up VUDU on the SmartTV.

Walmart Family Mobile Phone and Starter Kit

It really didn’t take too long to get signed up for my Walmart Family Mobile Plus account.  I purchased the starter kit for $19.88 and used the information inside to call and set the account up.  Walmart Family Mobile Plus doesn’t required payment up front.  It is a post-paid plan, so I just had to grab the phone and starter kit.  I’ll be billed at the end of the month.  Really, if you were going to use a phone you already had, you could get set up and running with just paying the $19.88 for the starter kit.

If you would like to visit with a Walmart Family Mobile representative, you can check the hub to see if there is an in-store event near you.  At the in-store events, the rep will have a code that you can scan to receive a free power up for the Endless Runner Game on the Angry Birds Action!  Also, you will have the chance to scan the Angry Birds code on the displays to unlock a selfie augmented reality experience with the Hatchlings.

How would you use more data every month and a free movie rental?
