The Plans I Have for You

The Plans I Have for You Devotional and Journal

I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s hard to find just the right devotional for the younger set.  Yes, there are great Bible story books, but it’s nice to have a simple devotional to make my son think or read deeper into a Bible story to see how it applies to him, or to learn how God is really looking out for him.

I recently had the chance to look at these two books:  The Plans I Have for You Devotional and The Plans I Have for You Journal.

The official on these two books:

About The Plans I Have For You Devotional:
The devotional is an illustrated 90-day devotional written by bestselling children’s book author Amy Parker and illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton, teaching and inspiring kids to dream about their future, to focus on faith, love, and joy, and recognize that God has a plan and purpose for each and every one of us.

Hardcover; 160 pages
Age Range: 8-12 years
Price:  $14.99

About The Plans I Have For You Journal:
The journal prompts creative thinking and exploration of the talents and personalities that make us special, and then helps explore how God may use our unique traits to spread love and joy and make the world a better place.

Stationery; 208 pages
Age Range: 11-14 years
Price:  $12.99
My thoughts on these two books:

The Plans I Have for You Journal

Personally, I think these two books complement each other very well!  The journal is definitely more than a journal as it has quite a few activities other than straight journalling that correspond to the devotional book.  While the ages quoted for the journal are 11-14, I do believe that many of the 8-10 year olds would do fine with the journal with a little extra assistant.

The Plans I Have 3

As you can see, the journal is very simple.  However, the lessons are laid out in a way that is easy for kids to understand, answer, and learn.

The Plans I Have for You Devotional
I LOVE the way the topics are broken down in the devotional (and journal).  These books are designed to show children what a great big awesome God we serve!  My son is a fan of outer space, so this is right up his alley.  Check out the different “sectors” in the book.
  • I’ve Got Big Plans for YOU!
  • I’ve Given YOU a Purpose
  • I Don’t Do Things Small
  • There’s Nothing YOU Can’t Do!
  • Find That ONE Thing
  • What I Created YOU To Do

These sections are designed to show kids they God created them for a purpose and will carry them through the storms no matter what.

Plans I Have 1

The devotional has beautiful illustrations and is easy for youngsters to read.  This is a 90 day devotional book and would make a great Bible course for homeschooling the younger set.

Plans I Have 2

There are little thinking points throughout the devotional to make sure the kids remember that when they are down God will guide them or see them through.  Don’t forget that He is leading always.  It’s definitely a good thing for us all to remember!

Make sure to check out The Plans I Have For You Devotional and The Plans I Have For You Journal on the Zondervan website.
