Don't Let Life Get in the Way of Fun

Spending time together is such a huge part of our lives!  Right now, my son and I are training to walk the Give Kids the World Gingerbread Run 5K.  Plus, my daughter wants to walk the Castaway Cay 5K when we go on our next Disney cruise.  What does this mean?  LOTS of walking beforehand.  This is actually a good thing as we will spend more time together, and much of that time will be filled with physical activity.

Goofy at the Port

As part of our family time, we love to travel!  While we waited to board our last cruise, we watched as Goofy interacted with other passengers, as well as our own family.  It was so funny to watch and kept us in stitches!

Don at Hersheypark

Another recent trip kept me laughing up a storm!  Songbird recently turned 16, and we celebrated her birthday at Hersheypark.  We spent a lot of time on the Boardwalk playing in the water.  I just about died laughing when my kids made sure that Don was wet enough!  Don was really good natured about it and was laughing himself!

These are great times together as a family, but as a mother, I have one problem with all this.  What am I talking about, right?  My family and I sound like we are having a great time, and we were.  However, as a mom, I do have a little problem called Stress Urinary Incontinence or SUI for short.  Things like exercise and laughing can cause leaking, and we won’t even mention sneezing…

Impressa at CVS

When I was picking up some candy at our local CVS, I wandered over to aisle 17 to check out the Poise Impressa Sizing Kit.

Impressa Sizing Kit Location

CVS has a coupon for the Impressa Sizing Kit on their website until the number of coupons are claimed.  Just choose the category of Personal Care and scroll down.

Impressa Sizing Kit

You might be wondering how Impressa works.  Impressa is a soft flexible, internal device with a non-absorbent outer covering that is designed for temporary management of SUI.  You can wear one for up to 8 hours in a 24 hour period.  There are three different sizes (hence the sizing kit).  The size is not related to how much you leak or weigh, though, but you are to use what fits your internal size the best.  While it may insert like a tampon, it is not absorbent.  You start with size 1 (following the directions on the package).  If you still leak, you move on to the next size.  If you still leak with #2, then you would move on to size 3.  It’s easy.

Training for 5K

The great thing about it is that when I’m out exercising, I don’t have to worry about leaking.  I can keep going and don’t have to cross my legs at the next sneeze.

Building a Snow Mountain

If I’m out shoveling snow to build a sled hill this winter, I’m not going to have to worry about SUI at all!  If SUI is a problem for you, what would you be out doing with Impressa?  Make sure you check out other personal stories about SUI and Impressa!

When I spoke with my doctor years ago about issues when laughing really hard he told me most women deal with the problem. It’s great to see products coming out for it and conversation taking place.

Older women talk about this problem all the time among themselves and have been using panty liners. I am very glad they have finally come out with what seems to me to be a better solution.

What a great way of stopping the problem, I might even be able to go back on the trampoline with the kids now.

How fun for you that you spend so much time enjoying life with your family. I love that you’ll be able to enjoy it even more – and without feeling self conscious – now! #client
