Fun Family Time Together with Cheerios™ #GiveABox

As long as I can remember, Cheerios™ has been there.  Whether it be for breakfast or a snack on the road, it has been a staple.  Not only do I remember it while growing up, it has been an integral part of my own household.  When it was time to introduce new finger foods to my children, what did I choose?  Cheerios™.  It was easy for them to hold and also traveled well in a bag for trips and visits to places away from home.

Our favorite flavor is Honey Nut and we tend to buy that flavor because there is a hint of sweetness already inside without piling on spoonfuls of sugar.  Once the sugar bowl comes out in our house, there is no stopping the scoops.  By getting the already sweetened kind, we avoid using too much sugar.

Cheerios™ has introduced a new limited-time promotion where you can buy a box for yourself and give a box to someone else.  These special boxes are only available at Walmart, so make sure to check out your local Walmart to find them.

As I pondered who to give my box to, I thought of all the people I know and have been friends with in the past.  One particular person came to mind.  She is a person my husband worked with when we lived in Flagstaff.  She has a young child, and what a perfect time to implement great family moments together, like breakfast around the table!  Spending time together as a family is the best part of having children!

Cheerios Buy a Box Give a Free Box In Store

The process of the buy a box, give a box is not hard at all!  I went to my local Walmart and found the Honey Nut Cheerios ™ display near an endcap.  Note:  Make sure the special label is on the box.  After getting home, I pulled the label off the box to review the details inside.  There is a special code that I input here, and I created an e-card to email to a friend.  Then, she will click a link inside the email to enter her postal address.  She will then receive a VIP coupon in the mail for a free mid-size box of Cheerios ™.  Isn’t that a neat program?

Cheerios Breakfast Parfait Ingredients

Since we are talking about spending time together around the table, I want to share a new family favorite with you!  It is so simple to make and wholesome to eat.  My son LOVED it!

Ingredients:

  • Honey Nut Cheerios ™
  • Yogurt – We used vanilla, but you could use any flavor
  • Fruit – We used peaches and apple
  • Whipped topping – optional
  • Sprinkles – optional

Cheerios Breakfast Parfait Layers

We layered Honey Nut Cheerios ™, yogurt, and fruit.  Then, we repeated until the jar was full.  The kids both squirted on whipped topping, and my daughter added sprinkles on top.

When we were done, each one of us had our own personal creation.  I think the kids had as much fun making this treat as they did eating them.

Yummy Cheerios Breakfast Parfait

Well, maybe not.  My son devoured his right away and proceeded to make another.  We had great fun making these treats as a family!

How do you eat your Honey Nut Cheerios ™?  Don’t forget to head over to your local Walmart to find the Buy a Box, Give a Box boxes to share with your friends and family!

As you may have heard, some select boxes of Cheerios™ and Honey Nut Cheerios™ produced over two weeks in July at the Lodi, California plant, have been recalled due to a wheat allergen.  This recall only affects consumers with Celiac disease or a gluten-sensitivity. What a great idea that is. Cheerios is what my Doctor told me was the only cereal he wanted me to eat when I first found out I was diabetic–luckily I already loved them!

I usually just eat them with milk or put them in a snack bag to eat on road trips with my kids. I like the idea of mixing them up with yogurt. i’ll have to try that next time instead of granola.
