5 Amazing Household Uses for Dawn Dish Soap

We’ve all used Dawn dish soap at some point or another in our homes.  Have you ever wondered if there are other ways you can use this dish soap around your home?  Check out these five amazing household uses for Dawn dish soap around your household, other than washing your dishes.

Shower Cleaner

Did you know that Dawn dish soap, when paired with white vinegar, makes an awesome tub and shower cleaner?  The best way to do this is to mix equal parts of dish soap with white vinegar into a spray bottle.  You can spray the cleaner directly onto your tub or shower and allow the soap to sit for a while before you start cleaning.  This also makes for a very un-harsh chemical cleaning routine.

Clean Your Driveway

Okay, this isn’t exactly in your house, but it still counts.  Car leaks can leave nasty stains on the concrete of your driveway.  If you’re anything like me, I totally dislike seeing those stains out there.  Mix Dawn dish soap with water and grab a scrub brush to clean off the stains.  It might take a few applications, but you will notice a major decrease in the stains.

Bug Control

Keep in mind that the type of Dawn that works best for bug control is the “blue kind.”  Blue Dawn dish soap makes an excellent flea repellant.  You can use the dish soap to actually wash your pet to help get rid of fleas.  Let’s say your house has fleas (thanks to your pets), you can fill containers up with a few drops of dish soap and water.  Fleas actually jump into the water mixture!  Ants can be very annoying in the summer months.  You can keep ants at bay by spraying a mixture of Dawn dish soap and water on the cabinets, countertops, and even on the floors!  Have a problem with stink bugs?  Just add a little Dawn dish soap into a bowl of water.  Coax the stink bug onto a flyswatter and dump it in the bowl of soapy water.  It will die in time, or you can dump it down the toilet and flush.

Dawn dish soap has major cleaning power.  Consider using this soap to clean out your oven.  It’s been said that Dawn dish soap also makes an awesome cleaner for grills.  Make a small water-dish soap mixture and have fun cleaning.  It’s really that simple.  You may need to get out the extra rags to make sure you don’t get “burnt” black grease all over your body.
