Chocolate Chip Scones
Scones are not just for fancy tea time rituals. They are a delicious baked good that can be enjoyed with coffee, at bridal and baby showers, or anytime. Less sweet than cake or cookies, they give you just a touch of sweetness to curb cravings. Load these Chocolate Chip Scones up in a basket wrapped in a pretty tea towel, and they make a tasty homemade hostess gift. Use a red or green tea towel, and it makes a perfect Christmas party dessert.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 1 ½ tsp. vanilla
- ⅔ cup half and half
- 1 ½ cups chocolate chips
- ¾ tsp. salt
Directions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Preheat oven to 400°.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, vanilla, butter, and half and half.
- In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients: flour, chocolate chips, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add flour mixture to wet ingredients, and combine until dough comes together and is no longer sticky.
- Form dough into a circle about 9” across on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Cut into 8 triangles using a pizza cutter. If you want smaller scones, split dough in half, and make two half sized rounds instead. Then, cut.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes until tops are golden brown.
- Allow to cool. Store in an airtight container.
