Jolly Time Popcorn

Jolly Time sent my family some popcorn and a movie at no charge, so I could share our thoughts about the quality of the popcorn with you.

Did you know that Jolly Time is almost 100 years old?  I didn’t realize the company had been around for that long.  It’s nice to see companies stay around for that long!  Anyway, Jolly Time Pop Corn is a whole grain, gluten-free snack made with non-GMO popcorn.  And, if you look on their website, Jolly Time is the only microwave popcorn endorsed by Weight Watchers.

Jolly Time passed along a recipe that they wanted me to share with you.  I have not actually tried this recipe yet, but I hope to try it sometime soon.

Sweet Heat Spiced Corn Crispettes

  • 20 cups popped Jolly Time Popcorn, Smart Balance Butter Light
  • 1 cup mild molasses
  • 1 cup agave syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon chipotle chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions:

  1. Place popcorn in large bowl.  Mix remaining ingredients in medium saucepan.  Bring to a boil.  Cook and stir for about 8 minutes.
  2. Pour hot molasses mixture over popcorn.  Toss quickly until popcorn is well coated.
  3. Using wet or buttered hands, press coated popcorn into a measuring cup and create crisp cakes.  Unmold onto wax paper-lined baking sheets.  Cool completely.

Makes about 2 dozen.

Popcorn and a Movie

One of our favorite ways to enjoy popcorn is with a movie.  Jolly Time sent us the movie in the photo above.  I had never heard of this movie, but we were looking forward to watching it.  It was really cute!  The movie is a very simple cartoon that looks like the pictures leapt out of the book and onto the television screen.  There is background music but no talking.  We all enjoyed this movie very much.

I love eating popcorn anytime, it’s my go-to snack. I enjoy eating it with my daughters when we watch movies. I also love to have popcorn while I’m reading. 🙂
