1st birthday cake smashed

I don’t know about you, but I certainly remember my children’s first birthday parties.  The above picture is from my son’s cake.  Do you see the cake all smooshed and smeared across the table?

Well, the table isn’t the only thing that wore the cake.  My son’s hair and clothing was matted with the cake.  But, you know, that was the most fun and memorable part about his first birthday.  The cake.  Well, the cake being grabbed, smashed, and smeared everywhere.  According to Betty Crocker’s survey of moms, most moms found the cake to be the most memorable part of the first birthday party.

Betty Crocker wants to help families create 1st birthday “smash cakes” to make that birthday even more memorable and enjoyable.  They have created the above graphic for making your child’s smash cake and have a page of different “smash cake” recipes on their website.  They have several different cakes to choose from, but I think my favorites are the Rubber Ducky Cake and the cake with Cheerios on it in the shape of a “1”.  Both of these look like so much fun!

So, if you are looking forward to your child’s first birthday or know someone who is, head over to Betty Crocker’s Smash Cake webpage for some cool ideas!  Did you take a look at the cakes?  Which is your favorite?

I think the rubber ducky cake is adorable. And it looks easy to make.
