I received Yummi Pouches free for the purpose of this review.

Yummi Pouch

I was asked to review Yummi Pouches and share my experience you.  I wasn’t quite sure if I wanted to, but I was intrigued.  I was hoping that perchance they could be used for freezing liquids to be used later.  I was told that would not be a good way to use them, but I still agreed to the review.

Yummi Pouches were designed to hold semi-soft foods like applesauce and yogurt, so they could be frozen to be used later.  It is a nice concept.  My son loves some of the prepackaged applesauce pouches that are on the market, so I thought that these might work for us.  They are supposed to be dishwasher safe to make cleaning easier.

Yummi Pouch Directions

So, I want to point something out before I share my experience with Yummi Pouch.  I am a Medical Technologist.  I perform laboratory testing, and I used to work in Microbiology.  Now, that I have added that little disclaimer, let’s move on.  Notice the lower left-hand panel of the picture above.  Please read it.  I’m not going to gross anyone out, but whatever is growing in your mouth is being put into your food to multiply.  Does that sound good?

Yummi Pouch Standing

Now that I have that off my chest, let’s move on with my observations.  I did try both methods of trying to open the pouch wider, but this is as far as I could get it without holding it open with a hand.

Yummi Pouch with spoon

Here I have a tablespoon of applesauce that I am trying to put in the pouch.  You can see how wide the spoon is compared to the opening of the pouch.

Yummi Pouch with applesauce on outside

I put down my camera to hold the top of the pouch open while spooning the applesauce in and still got quite a bit on the top of the pouch with only one spoon in the pouch.

Here is my assessment.  If you have young children and want to avoid throwing away a lot of pouches that come pre-filled, this might be an option for you, if you are willing to work to keep the pouches clean and are either able to hold the pouch open enough or have some sort of funnel to put the applesauce or other semi-solid food in with.  Yummi Pouch is not exactly my cup of tea but may work well for others.

Disclosure:  I received Yummi Pouch for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, nor was I required to give a positive review.  All opinions are mine.
