MadeOn

If you’ve been reading here for a while, you may know that I have horrible skin allergies.  For the first couple of years after the allergies started, I was constantly rubbing high-powered steroid cream on my hands and occasionally taking steroid packs to alleviate really bad flare-ups.  It was a miserable existence!  After a while, I started to see patterns emerge and was able to avoid a majority of flare-ups by staying away from certain items, like most soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions.  As a person who at times works in healthcare and is constantly washing hands, this is really difficult.  I can deal with the dry frizzy hair from not using conditioner, but the dry cracking hands in the winter are impossible to deal with.

Little-by-little, I have been able to find select soaps and shampoos that don’t irritate my skin, but the lotion has really eluded me.  I have tried lotions for sensitive skin, but they always ended up stinging.  I had just about given up on my search when I read more into MadeOn Skin Care Product’s Hard Lotion bars.  I was sent the 3 pack Hard Lotion Bar Lotion and Lip Balm to try out.  I like this 3 pack because it includes a cute lotion bar that I can throw in my purse without taking up a lot of room.

When I opened the tin, I saw the lotion bar in what appeared to be a thin wax paper.  When I picked it up, I noticed that it lived up to its name of “hard”.  As I held the bar, I noticed that it was getting a little softer.  I would have to hold it for a long time for it to get really soft, but after just a short time, some of the lotion had transferred to my hands.  I put the lotion bar down and gently rubbed my hands together.  I immediately felt the lotion coating my hands.  Now, this lotion bar is a pretty substantial lotion, and I found that it seemed to repel water and coat my skin through a few hand washes.  This would be a great lotion to use in the winter.  The hard lotion Beesilk Bar just has three ingredients:  coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax.  They also have a Beesilk Junior that sounds like it is a little bit lighter and is described as more like a “lanolin”.  I may look into trying that one in the future.

I should probably say something about the lip balm.  It is the same as the lotion bar, no scent or color.  When I first put it on, it felt rough, but as soon as it warmed up, I was able to smooth it around my lip.  It made my lips very soft.

MadeOn Skin Care Products also has lip balms, soaps, and hair butter.  They even have ebooks, so you can make your own MadeOn products.  Now, if only I could find time to make some with the kids…

Make sure to try out some MadeOn Skin Products yourself.  The prices vary according to product.  The 3 pack set that I received is normally priced at $20.75.

Disclosure:  I received the product above free of charge for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, nor was I required to give a positive review.  All opinions are 100% mine.
