Thank you to HEDUA for sending me The Well Planned Day Family Homeschool Planner for the purpose of this review.

Well Planned Day 1

I am a planner junkie!  Of all the homeschool planners I have tried, the Well Planned Day is the planner that stays by my side all year.  There are so many reasons for this, but this year, HEDUA made an addition that really had me jumping for joy:  monthly tabs.

Well Planned Day 6

The recessed tabs make it easier to find the month I am working on in the case that I close my planner.  I usually leave it open to the week I’m on; however, I do close it to take it out of the house.

Well Planned Day 3

I LOVE that each month has a calendar with large squares to write in.  My writing is fairly large, and many calendar spaces aren’t large enough for me to write in.  As you can see, each month is spread over two pages, giving plenty of space to plan.

Well Planned Day 5

I like that the pages for each week of the month follow the month layout.  Each column is one day each for Monday through Friday.  Saturday and Sunday each have one small square block out of this picture on the right side of the page.  This is one downside for me as we sometimes will take a day off during the week and replace it with a weekend day.  When we do this, I have to use one of my columns and cross out the day at the top.

As far as each day, there are five subjects already listed on the left:  Bible, Math, History, Science, and English.  There are a few lines at the bottom to add in extra activities.  There are four lines beside each subject.  Conceivably, one could use each line per child and fit four children in.  I personally use two lines per child in order to fit everything into the space.

Well Planned Day 4

HEDUA included many of the things that homeschooling moms need in a planner.  One of these are shopping lists.  Now, this may not be that important to everyone, but I personally appreciate being able to turn the page to add to my shopping list when an item comes to mind, but I don’t want to interrupt school by getting up to find my list.  Each of the lists is perforated, so it can easily be torn out of the book.

Well Planned Day 2

There are also perforated sheets for chores and/or other responsibilities.  I like that I can write down a list of things the kids need to do on a daily basis and hand it to them.  There are also pages for keeping attendance, keeping track of grades, and grade cards.  There are even inspirational posts every month. that are uplifting.  I’m thankful to have the Well Planned Day Family Homeschool Planner by my side for another school year!

This year will be very different! My husband has retired from public school teaching, one or both of us will have to find part-time jobs, and I will only have 2 boys to homeschool!

I am looking forward to my younger daughter really starting her first year of school. Se will be beginning first grade and I am just so excited to open her new reading books and math books with her. She has been anxiously awaiting “real school” and I know she is even more excited than I am.

For 2013-14 school year I’m looking forward to my 11th-grade son participating in the Academic Decathlon with his other homeschool teammates. Last year he won first place in the literature portion (locally) and he has high hopes for this year. I’m also excited to see where his new-found involvement with FFA and 4-H might take him. And looking forward (hopefully) to another medal in state and (fingers crossed) national/international Judo competitions. Most of all, I am excited AND fearful as this will be my daughter’s first year in kindergarten!!
A copy of the The Well Planned Day Family Homeschool Planner would be a serious blessing given how fabulously busy our lives have been. This would save me loads of time and printer ink as I’ll likely have to create/alter documents and print them myself otherwise. God bless and have a wonderful homeschooling year! <3
