I received Spanish For You for free for the purpose of the following review.
Spanish For YouSpanish For You is an affordable method for teaching your kids to speak Spanish.  The Spanish For You lessons are aimed toward children in grades 3-8, so one set of lessons can be used by a wide range of grades.  It sounded to me like I would be able to teach my 3rd grader and 7th grader on the same timeline; however, there are different timelines stated for grades 5-8 versus grades 3-4.  We can modify this and go at our own pace, maybe right down the middle of the two time expectations.

Spanish For You comes in different themes:  Fiestas, Estaciones, and soon-to-come Viajes.  We received the Estaciones theme, which is a study of the seasons.  Personally, I like the ideas of themes and the ability to choose the theme.  With the Estaciones, we can add some weather study for science.

There are definitely some pros and cons to Spanish For You.  One of the big pros is that the author Debbie Annett MSEd is very customer service friendly.  When I downloaded the required files and audio files, they were a jumbled mess.  After hearing the feedback from other reviewers, she emailed to let us know that she had reordered the files, so they would make more sense.  That certainly means a lot!  I also like that she includes audio files with her reading the words along with audio files of a native speaker.  I like being able to hear the words both ways.

Now, for one of the negatives.  Spanish For You is very reasonably priced at $39.95 for grades 3-4, grades 5-6, or grades 7-8.  It is also available in a grade 3-8 combo for $64.95.  This is an excellent price for a foreign language program; however, there is a lot of printing involved.  There is a 42 page lesson book, but the worksheets and lesson guides come as PDF files that need to be printed out.  Well, not all people will feel that the lesson guides need to be printed, but I am one who does better with a paper plan.

Over all, I liked Spanish For You.  It’s a good basic program to start the younger grades with learning Spanish.

Disclosure:  I received the above product for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, nor was I required to give a positive review.  All opinions are mine.

      Hi Tawnee,

The program is set up for 4 days per week and 10-30 minutes each day. The lessons take longer than that for DS10, so we do go at a slower pace.
