Thank you to Flyby Promotions for providing me with a copy of the book below for the purpose of this review.
What I Wish I Knew at 18Dennis Trittin is a successful investment manager, education, and mentor who is committed to helping young adults reach their full potential.  In 2008, Dennis switched gears to devote his life to charitable causes and teaching Financial Literacy courses to students and adults.  What I Wish I Knew at 18 strives to teach “life smarts” by targeting 109 specific points on topics that include: Life Perspective, Character, Relationships and Communication, Spiritual Life, Handling Adversity, Miscellaneous, College Academics, Career Selection and Advancement, Love and Marriage, and Managing Your Finances.

I really appreciate the laid-back writing that is direct and easy to understand.  There are several things that stand out to me, but I think one of the topics that I have enjoyed most is the section on Love and marriage, especially his 3Ds of dating.  I think this is a great book for DD13 and me to read together because there are a lot of important things in this book that would be good for her to learn now rather than later.  What a great book to use for preparing for the future!

At the end of each individual point, there is a section called “Take Five”.  Each one is a short question or direction that allows the reader to dive deeper into the subject and apply it to himself.  I sure could have used this book when I was growing up!

What I Wish I Knew at 18 covers 109 success pointers in 239 pages.  It was published in 2011 by LifeSmart Publishing.  What I Wish I Knew at 18 can be purchased in a variety of formats (electronic and print) and also as a bundle with a student guide.  Prices for the various formats and bundles can be found here.

I wish I knew at 18 that I would feel more and more like I “fit in” in the next few years. At 18, I was going through a really tough move and was struggling to find a place and feel like I belonged. I wish I knew that things would be getting better as time passed.
