Are You Gutzy?

Since we are a homeschooling family, we don’t use school backpacks in the way that most kids do.  We don’t need them on a daily basis to carry books because our books stay at home, for the most part.  When we take out the backpacks, we are planning a trip somewhere.

When we travel, whether it be by car or by plane, Don and I make sure that the kids have plenty of special things to do to keep them busy.  Therefore, the backpack is usually something special, too.  Enter Gutzy Gear!

Gutzy Gear is a company that sells backpack strap covers and patches for kids to decorate their backpacks, messenger bags, and duffel bags.

First, you take a pack of backpack strap covers and place the covers over the backpack straps.  Then, you pick out the patches to decorate the straps with and stick them on.  Now sewing is needed because the patches are held in place by velcro.

Gutzy Gear provided me with straps and patches for a party.  How do we party?  We party Disney-style.  (Gutzy did provide me with games to play, but since, we were decorating backpacks for our Disney vacation, we preferred to play Disney-themed games.)

We played the Magic Kingdom game and colored Disney coloring sheets.

Then, we decorated the straps on the backpacks.  Here are a couple of the backpacks.

Fun was had by all!

Gutzy Gear straps can be ordered here for $9.99.  The patches can be ordered two to a pack here for $4.99 or $5.99 depending on if they are licensed or not.  They do have a few licensed like Marvel and SpongeBob.  Sure hope they get some Disney characters!

Now, I checked their “Find a Store” link to see where I could find a store to buy some.  You see, they gave me and my guests an option to get a free “rare” patch if we bought a patch in a store, but when I checked the store locator, I could not find any place within 1,000 miles of my location.  That 1,000 miles includes some rather large cities, so it may be that their “Find a Store” service is not working properly.  Gutzy Gear products are supposed to be available in Walmart and Target, among other stores; however, I could not find them in my Walmart.

A Gutzy Gear party would work well for a birthday party, a back-to-school party, a homeschool co-op get-together, or for many other types of parties.  I truly liked the product with a few caveats:  Practically, they can only be ordered online.  There are lots of good options for girls, but I didn’t think that their boys’ options were near as nice.

So, are you ready to get Gutzy for your next Disney vacation?

Disclosure:  I was provided the product above for the purpose of this review.  I received no other compensation, and I was not required to post a positive review.
