Go Science DVDs from Library and Educational Services

I reviewed a 6-DVD set of science DVDs called Go Science.  These science shorts were filmed by Ben Roy, a teacher of science methods at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, for a Christian kids’ show called Kids Time.

Each of these 6 DVDs is made up of several short segments grouped by scientific principle, which makes it easy to find the segment that will fit with the lesson you are teaching your children.  Several of these experiments are easy enough to do at home, but several will just need to be watched.  Even just watching, though, makes the scientific principle seem more alive than just reading about it in a book.  Also, in each segment filmed, Ben Roy gives credit to God for how science works because “Every time we learn something about science, we learn something about our Creator God!”

These DVDs are meant to be used along with your existing curriculum; however, my son was happy to just sit and watch the entire DVD at a time.  Yes, he’s my over-eager scientist!

So, where did I get these DVDs?  I got them from a company called Library and Educational Services.  Library and Educational Services is a small, family-owned, Christian company that has been around for 35 years and sells hundreds of family-friendly books, CDs, and DVDs that uphold Christian values for all ages.  Library and Educational Services sells at wholesale prices (30-70% off List Prices) to schools (including homeschools), missionaries, churches, libraries and other institutions, and resellers.

Library and Educational Services chooses their products based on high standards that include:

  • Titles that preserve and enhance Christian standards.
  • No evolution – although occasionally when they find a very good book with only minor reference to evolution, they may carry it with a warning on the website
  • Free of coarse language and slang terms
  • U.S. History titles that do not try to change or eliminate the Christian principles so prevalent in the history of our country
  • They also carry about 100 educational sets with reinforced library binding, and these books have been reviewed to meet their criteria.  Most of these are discounted by 70%

Now, this is not a place to buy full curriculum.  This is a place to purchase books, CDs, and DVDs to enhance your curriculum.  They sell Drive Thru History, Adventures in Odyssey, Focus on the Family Radio Theatre CDs, Felt, Older American Girl books, and much more at wholesale prices.  I’ve been perusing the site thinking about what I plan to buy…

Now, who would like to win a 6 DVD set of Go Science?  I’m excited to give one set away to one lucky winner!

Disclaimer:  Please read the Terms & Conditions in the Rafflecopter widget.  This contest will start on July 25, 2012 at 12:01 am EST and end on August 8, 2012 at 12:01 am EST.  I was given a 6 DVD set of Go Science in hopes that I would share my opinion of the DVDs and Library and Educational Services.  The opinion of the Go Science DVDs is my own, and I have not place a personal order through Library and Educational Services, yet, but found their representative to be friendly in prompt with mailing the products for this review.  I have not received any other compensation for this post.
