About 3 months ago, I agreed to review Kinderbach for a friend of mine, Brenda.  Now, Brenda knew my kids were above the target age range for this program, but she wanted to help spread the word about this great learning program.  I agreed to review it, but then, I moved (twice, no less) and have had intermittent high-speed internet.  It has taken me until now to really get a good look at Kinderbach.  This review is based on my perusal of the program, not on my kids’ experience with it.

Kinderbach is comprised of 6 levels of lessons with the 7th level being developed as I type.  Each lesson contains videos with worksheets to coordinate with the lessons.  Also, Kinderbach is working to reformat ALL the videos to a type that will work on Mac, PC, iPad, iTouch, and iPhone.  Level 1 is done, and Levels 2 and 3 are expected to be done at any time.  I had a chance to try Level 1 out on my iPad, and it was a nice option to have.  Our keyboard faces the wall, and it is difficult to turn it to face the computer (especially since the computer is in a different room).  I could set the iPad on the keyboard stand so that it could be seen while sitting at the keyboard.

Kinderbach promotes itself as “Preschool Online Piano Lessons” but says that the target age is 3-7 years old.  I watched samples of Levels 1, 3, and 6, and after watching these three levels, I feel that it is on the young side for the 6-7 year old set.  It just seemed to me that most kids over 5 would find it too babyish.  Having said that, I do think that this is a really great program for the 3-5 year old group.

Video can also be viewed at http://youtu.be/MxJMHDirbc0.
Kinderbach uses stories about the Piano Pals, like Dodi, to teach the piano, and now, some of the Piano Pals’ stories are in coloring book form to help kids remember the lessons that they have learned from the videos.  One of these is the story of Dodi and his house.

I feel that Kinderbach is a great program at a great price for the Preschool-aged kids!  Why don’t you try out their free introductory lessons?
