About the Movie:
Matthew Stevenson is a troubled kid from a broken home. When he vandalizes the local church to get back at his parents, Matthew has to repair the damage to the church to avoid criminal charges. While working at the church, he meets Ernest (John Ratzenberger), an accomplished wood carver who created the intricate woodwork decoration that Matthew destroyed. Ernest has become something of a hermit, but reluctantly comes out of reclusion to help repair the church. Now Ernest and Matthew must work together to preserve the church’s beautiful antiquity, and along the way, they also manage to restore their faith in God and in life.

So, what did I think?  I thought the movie was extremely well cast and well acted.  John Ratzenberger was so believable!  This movie does contain some more mature subject matter and, as such, is rated PG.  I felt that this movie would be appropriate for a church youth group or your own teenagers, but it did contain vandalism, harsh family arguments, divorce, and extreme grief from losing a loved one to cancer.  While these are obviously things of everyday life, it was presented in such an intense manner that I did not feel that my 12 year-old would do well watching this movie.  It truly is a good movie, but it is made for more mature audiences.

This is a Region 1-DVD, and the list price is $14.99.  However, I do have one copy of this movie to giveaway in conjunction with my review.  Please click “Continue Reading” to reach the Rafflecopter entry form.
