It’s 1971. Cathy Rush is a woman ahead of her time … and she’s about to embark on an adventure for the ages. A new era is dawning in the country and in collegiate athletics, where a national champion will be crowned for the first time in women’s basketball.
In the lead up to this historical season, major universities are preparing their game plans to win that first title. Meanwhile a tiny all-women’s Catholic college in Philadelphia has a more modest goal: find a coach before the season begins. Providentially, Cathy Rush is about to find Immaculata College.
When I was offered the chance to review this movie, I jumped at it! The family loves basketball, and both kids LOVE history. I figured it was certainly worth a watch. Well, after watching it a second time, with both kids cheering on Immaculata, the underdog, I really began to realize how great a movie this is.
This is a G-rated movie that does not need to stoop to violence or offensive language to draw a person into the plot. Might Macs uses good acting and a realistic plot to keep the audience clinging to the edge of their seat. Also, I feel that it is a nice way for young girls to see how girls in the early 1970s had to fight to play the sport of basketball. Can you imagine being told that the restroom was your locker room?

Thank you for the review. I’ve been wondering about this movie; now I have to watch it. 🙂
When we watch movies at home on DVD, we make it almost as big of event as going to the theater. We pop popcorn, buy pickles, and have the elusive soda. We try to make it a fun evening IN.
We drove 1 1/2 hours to see this movie in a theater and I would love to win a copy of it!
It depends on the day: sometimes we pop popcorn and sometimes we eat chips. It’s nice now that my oldest kids can make stovetop popcorn.
We pull out the popcorn maker and make a super sized bowl of popcorn for our movie nights.

We’re more likely to have popcorn.
We always pop popcorn in an old-fashioned crank popper, and then season it with salt, pepper, and a little cheese!
Popcorn is such a treat around here the kids always want popcorn to go with the movies.
