If there is one thing that tops our list of favorites, it is music! We love music, and it is rare that we don’t have music playing in our house, our car, etc. When the opportunity to review Maestro Classics’ Swan Lake, I jumped at the chance!
From the website:
The Story of Swan Lake, Tchaikovsky’s greatest ballet score, is the tale of a prince who falls in love with a beautiful princess. The princess, however, has been turned into a swan by an evil magician, and only the prince’s love can break the spell. This narrated version of the classic tale for children is sure to delight all who love ballet and enchanting storytelling.
A 24-page activity book included with the CD contains a biography of Tchaikovsky, information on acoustic and electric guitars, sheet music and words for a sing-along song, explanation of major and minor keys, puzzles and more. MP3 download from Maestro Classics website includes a PDF of the activity booklet.
What we thought: We loved this product. As I said above, we love music, so it was a perfect fit. Our favorite was The Story of Swan Lake with narration. The tract that was our least favorite was probably the Speed Metal Swan by Joe Stump. Call me old-fashioned, but I like Swan Lake played in the more traditional style. We also found the activity book to be informative and entertaining at the same time. Overall, this was a great product for a great price. A fun way to learn about a composer.
What will we do next? DS8 wants to get The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. I’m torn, but I think I would like to get Casey at Bat. Since we will be hitting the open road soon, I may be buying some MP3s for the trip…
