2011 Gratitude Challenge #3

Brenda over at Garden of Learning has been hosting a daily gratitude meme through the month of November.  Knowing that I would likely have problems posting daily, I decided to do a weekly post.  The last two posts were lists of things that I had been thankful for each day of the week.  I had planned to continue in that style, but something happened yesterday to change my mind.

Yesterday, we had a visitor.  This visitor had dropped by before but had been scared away.  He had felt out of place, threatened; however, yesterday, he decided to try again.  Evidently, he felt more at ease and stayed a little longer than his previous visit lasted.

At first, he kept some distance.  He didn’t seem interested in conversation.  Then, he became a little nervous and…

climbed the tree to watch us.  He glared at us for a short while, wondering about the food that he had left behind.

Then, he began to turn and…

climb down the tree, watching us at all times.  At this point, DS8 and I were standing over the cat at the patio door.

He must have felt safe because he came back to have a bite to eat while he and the cat stared at each other.

I am so thankful for God’s nature and the ability that we have to observe some of these rare encounters.  We look forward to the next visit from our squirrel.

Oh – I love squirrels! Fun, how something so simple can be so wonderfully magical. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times I’ve seen backyard birds and squirrels, they make me happy every time!

Cute little visitor! About 6 or so years ago we had a squirral that would come everyday and sit by our back door. Over time he became so comfortable we could walk past him and he wouldn’t move. He seemed so comfortable we were concerned he may wander into our house! LOL! Eventually we bought and keep peanuts for him. That keep him coming back for a long time. My girls loved it!

Thank you for all comments on my blog 😉 I love visitors and comments!
