How to Keep the Kids Focused on School Work During the Holidays
It seems like keeping kids focused is a minute-by-minute task. It’s important to keep the kids focused around the holidays, but there’s only one problem. How do you keep the kids focused on school work around the holidays?
Rewards
I’m sorry to say, but rewards are one of the top ways to keep your kids focused during the holidays. Allow your kids to help pick out the rewards they will get for staying focused. I sometimes use videogames and television as a form of positive reward. Since my kids don’t get to use these electronic devices a lot, it works as an excellent reward.
Be Motivating
One way to keep your kids focused during the holidays is to be as motivating as possible. Things will get hard whenever the holidays roll around, and it’ll be up to you to be the glue of the family. You’ll need to be motivating to the kids and let them know that a break is coming, and it’s right around the corner.
Set a Timer
Nothing works better than a timer when it comes to staying focused. I will tell you that a lot of breaks are going to be needed over the next few weeks due to the holidays. Kids get a little antzy, and they know the holidays are approaching. If they are struggling to stay focused at home, then it’s time to whip out the timer.
Switch it Up
One of the things my kids love about the holidays is that we really try to switch things up a little bit. I try to steer away from huge boring tests, and we go do more things outside of the house that are educational. Head to a museum for the day or to a park to study and play. You can find fun things to do even if it’s cold outside.
