Keeping the Data Flowing with Walmart Family Mobile

Over the years, we have spent LOTS of time in doctors’ offices and hospitals.  As time went by, it was evident that we needed to have activities to keep the kids busy while waiting for appointments.  In the early years, it was easy to use activity bags filled with coloring books and crayons.  As time went on and the kids got older, those coloring books just didn’t cut it.  Enter, electronic devices.

Now that we have three people on data, this can be an expensive prospect when we are off wi-fi.  With streaming music and movies, surfing the web, and posting to social media; the data usage can add up fast!

Walmart Family Mobile Display

I recently had a chance to try out the new Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan.  I went to the electronics area of our local Walmart to find the right section.  As you can see, there were several different phones to choose from.

Making Mobile Choices

I already knew what plan I wanted to choose, but now I had to decide what phone I wanted.  Then, I needed to find out which starter kit I needed.  The sweet thing about the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan is that it does really “plus” up the normal data plan!  Walmart Family Mobile PLUS is Unlimited Talk, Text, Data, which includes up to 10GB 4G LTE plus a free movie rental, new release with a $7 value on VUDU every month.  The price per line is $49.88.

Unpacking the Phone

I chose the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, and I thought the price, $99.00 (Rollback from $149.00), was awesome!  The two things I liked about this phone was the better forward facing camera (Marvel Boy LOVES to take photos!) and the large screen.

I was eager to get this set up, and it really didn’t take long at all.  I took the micro sim from the starter kit and put it in the phone.  I put the phone together and called Walmart Family Mobile to get the line set up.  Walmart Family Mobile is different in that they don’t take payment up front, nor do they do a credit check.  I haven’t received my first bill yet, but I understand that it is texted to me.  Then, I can pay online or at a Walmart store.

Packing for Therapy

Since it was therapy day, I got my things together, including the new phone, to spend part of the afternoon over at the hospital.  Marvel Boy was anxious to try the phone out.  Seems he wants me to download an Angry Bird app for him to play…

Keeping Busy While Waiting for Therapy

I haven’t gotten Angry Birds, yet, but he was happily looking for merchandise from his favorite hockey team, the Hershey Bears.

The price and amount of data for the Walmart Family Mobile PLUS plan really makes this a great option for those looking to save money on their mobile plans.  The extra data gives the kids a chance to use their devices on the road between appointments and home.  Also, while we are traveling, too.  I’m sure the extra data will come in handy while traveling to Hershey all summer!  It’s also nice to be able to get the free movie rental to watch for family night on our Smart TV, or I suppose Songbird could watch the movie on her laptop while Marvel Boy has therapy.

What would you do with 10GB of data every month?

This sounds like a great plan. I’m going to have to check this out.

The waiting room can be tough! But this data plan seems like the answer to making sure you have enough data to keep everyone entertained! #client
