Allergy Friendly Dining at Hersheypark

Dining out at amusement parks sure has changed!  I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and I remember heading to parks (including Disneyland) when I was a teenager.  The choices of food I could eat was severely limited!  Food allergies?  I’m guessing that might have been the same or maybe even worse.  There are so many more options for vegetarians and people with food allergies now.  Check out the allergy-friendly dining at Hersheypark!

Allergy-Friendly Dining at Hersheypark

The Outpost at Hersheypark

Hersheypark announced the Outpost, a place for “allergy-friendly flavorful food”.  It’s nice to see places like this so families can enjoy Hersheypark together without having to take their own food with!

The Outpost at Hersheypark Menu

The menu is very easy to see and read before placing your order.  Another thing that is great?  Hersheypark puts all of this information online, so you can plan before you head to the park.  Make sure to check out the Outpost’s menu on the Hersheypark website!

Hersheypark Map

But you are not limited to the Outpost.  On the map, there is a legend for other places in the park that have different allergy-friendly aspects:  Gluten-free, Nut-free, and Dairy-free.

Hersheypark Map 2

It’s handy to have all this information easily available, but you know what is better?

Hersheypark app 1

The app!  I LOVE the Hersheypark iPhone app and use it just about every time we go!  There are a lot of handy features to this app, but one of the best is the dining section!  In the photo, you can see the allergens listed for Kettle Corn.

Hersheypark app 2

In this photo, you can see the allergy-friendly options available at Famiglia.

Hersheypark app 3

Here, you can see the allergy-friendly aspects of Famiglia in the restaurant list.  It sure stands out, doesn’t it?

Hersheypark app 4

You can also see the ingredients at allergens for each item in the restaurant.  For me, this is really nice because I can see if there is meat or stock in the items I’m interested in eating.  I’m really glad that Hersheypark has made eating there so easy for everyone who had dietary restrictions!

If you or your family have dietary restrictions or food allergies, Hersheypark is a very good choice for your family outing.  Obviously, if you have restrictions other than those I have listed here, you might want to check their website or call to see if they can work with your restrictions.  I’m glad that there is allergy-friendly dining at Hersheypark!

It’s so awesome that places like this take food allergies so seriously. Kudos to Hershey Park for making life a little easier on parents of little ones with allergies!

this is incredible! I have some strict eating guidelines and find that eating out is extremely difficult. I love when places listen to their guests and make the necessary changes to keep them happy and coming back.

I always love seeing allergy-friendly restaurants. I’m lucky enough to not have to worry but the Mr. has a tree nut allergy and it’s amazing how much items places can sneak nuts into.

That is so true, Michelle! I was looking for “nut free” snacks for a person with nut allergies, and there is so much conflicting information out there about what contains nuts, what was made in the same factories that use nuts for other uses, and what is nut-free. They sure sneak things in everywhere.

Very nice! I appreciate the effort that parks are taking. I would much rather there be a designated place to go, than the threat of contamination. My kids have severe metabolic conditions (not allergies or Celiac’s disease), so being able to customize food so my kids can eat is wonderful.

I’m so glad to see a park stepping up and taking care of families with allergies. What’s a lacto-ovo vegetarian?

      Hi Sara,

A Lacto-ovo vegetarian is a person who will eat dairy and eggs but not other forms of animal products. Vegan tends to be used for a person who doesn’t eat or use any animal products.

It is really great that they have different types of foods that almost everyone can eat, and you can look it up ahead of time. I am also very glad Hersey Park was not around when I was a child–I was allergic to chocolate!!!!! (but not anymore!!!!)

An allergy-friendly restaurant is such a great concept. We know many children and adults who have food allergies. They should start a national chain. I bet they’d be extremely popular!!

I love all the options that Hersheypark offers! I have a gluten sensitivity and it is very frustrating to go to a restaurant and have to ask about every item on the menu since so many sauces and even salad dressings contain gluten.

That is so incredibly awesome! Thankfully we don’t have any food allergies in our family, but we do try to eat a certain way and it is difficult to find foods that fit in that niche. I’d rather eat at a place like the Outpost where they have food and health in mind, than loading up on grease and junk.

It’s great to know that Hershey Park has the Outpost, a restaurant that has great food choices for those with allergies. That way families are able to go there to eat without having to worry about one of their family members having a reaction to an allergy which would ruin their day at the park.

I wished more food places would take food allergies seriously. I do not have celiacs disease but I do have a gluten intolerance. My mother has an allergy to MSG so it is rare to find a place for her to go out to eat. At home, I have to read all labels before cooking because MSG is disguised as other names. My granddaughter has a nut allergy so again this is a problem with many food places. Thanks for sharing this.
