Dining out at amusement parks sure has changed! I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and I remember heading to parks (including Disneyland) when I was a teenager. The choices of food I could eat was severely limited! Food allergies? I’m guessing that might have been the same or maybe even worse. There are so many more options for vegetarians and people with food allergies now. Check out the allergy-friendly dining at Hersheypark!
Allergy-Friendly Dining at Hersheypark
Hersheypark announced the Outpost, a place for “allergy-friendly flavorful food”. It’s nice to see places like this so families can enjoy Hersheypark together without having to take their own food with!
The menu is very easy to see and read before placing your order. Another thing that is great? Hersheypark puts all of this information online, so you can plan before you head to the park. Make sure to check out the Outpost’s menu on the Hersheypark website!
But you are not limited to the Outpost. On the map, there is a legend for other places in the park that have different allergy-friendly aspects: Gluten-free, Nut-free, and Dairy-free.
It’s handy to have all this information easily available, but you know what is better?
The app! I LOVE the Hersheypark iPhone app and use it just about every time we go! There are a lot of handy features to this app, but one of the best is the dining section! In the photo, you can see the allergens listed for Kettle Corn.
In this photo, you can see the allergy-friendly options available at Famiglia.
Here, you can see the allergy-friendly aspects of Famiglia in the restaurant list. It sure stands out, doesn’t it?
You can also see the ingredients at allergens for each item in the restaurant. For me, this is really nice because I can see if there is meat or stock in the items I’m interested in eating. I’m really glad that Hersheypark has made eating there so easy for everyone who had dietary restrictions!
If you or your family have dietary restrictions or food allergies, Hersheypark is a very good choice for your family outing. Obviously, if you have restrictions other than those I have listed here, you might want to check their website or call to see if they can work with your restrictions. I’m glad that there is allergy-friendly dining at Hersheypark!

I’m so glad they have various options when traveling there. I will definitely pass this along to some of my friends who are GF and looking for traveling options.
Robin Rue (@massholemommy) says
It’s so awesome that places like this take food allergies so seriously. Kudos to Hershey Park for making life a little easier on parents of little ones with allergies!
Jennifer says
this is incredible! I have some strict eating guidelines and find that eating out is extremely difficult. I love when places listen to their guests and make the necessary changes to keep them happy and coming back.
Michelle says
I always love seeing allergy-friendly restaurants. I’m lucky enough to not have to worry but the Mr. has a tree nut allergy and it’s amazing how much items places can sneak nuts into.
Naomi M. says
That is so true, Michelle! I was looking for “nut free” snacks for a person with nut allergies, and there is so much conflicting information out there about what contains nuts, what was made in the same factories that use nuts for other uses, and what is nut-free. They sure sneak things in everywhere.
Andrea Kruse says
Very nice! I appreciate the effort that parks are taking. I would much rather there be a designated place to go, than the threat of contamination. My kids have severe metabolic conditions (not allergies or Celiac’s disease), so being able to customize food so my kids can eat is wonderful.
Ellen ThatChicMom says
I love that they have an allergy friendly place. More and more people have serious allergies so this is fabulous for them.
Sara P. (@SensiblySara) says
I’m so glad to see a park stepping up and taking care of families with allergies. What’s a lacto-ovo vegetarian?
Naomi M. says
Hi Sara,
A Lacto-ovo vegetarian is a person who will eat dairy and eggs but not other forms of animal products. Vegan tends to be used for a person who doesn’t eat or use any animal products.

Wow! It will be nice when all theme parks follow Hershey’s lead. Hopefully, one day I will make it to Hershey’s. It’s been on my list of places to visit.
Shop with Me Mama (Kim) says
Sounds like a wonderful place to visit! We have never been, but would sure love to one day! That app looks so helpful!
Patty says
That’s really wonderful that the restaurant has so many options for people with special food needs. The app that tells you about all of the restaurants is so very convenient.
Michele says
It is really great that they have different types of foods that almost everyone can eat, and you can look it up ahead of time. I am also very glad Hersey Park was not around when I was a child–I was allergic to chocolate!!!!! (but not anymore!!!!)
Naomi M. says
That’s a shame that you were allergic to chocolate as a child, but yay! for not being allergic to it anymore!
Jennifer H says
That’s great it’s mobile and on the map. That should make it much easier for families.

That’s fabulous that they have allergy-friendly foods. Now that I have a little one with many allergies, I really appreciate places that take the time to add allergy-friendly foods to their menus.
Karen Coutu says
An allergy-friendly restaurant is such a great concept. We know many children and adults who have food allergies. They should start a national chain. I bet they’d be extremely popular!!
Crystal says
It is wonderful that everyone, even those with allergies, can enjoy Hershey Park. I haven’t been there in years, but I just loved it there.
Valerie Remy-Milora says
I love all the options that Hersheypark offers! I have a gluten sensitivity and it is very frustrating to go to a restaurant and have to ask about every item on the menu since so many sauces and even salad dressings contain gluten.
Chelle OJSA says
That is so incredibly awesome! Thankfully we don’t have any food allergies in our family, but we do try to eat a certain way and it is difficult to find foods that fit in that niche. I’d rather eat at a place like the Outpost where they have food and health in mind, than loading up on grease and junk.
Michelle says
Wow, I love that they offer allergy free options. There are so many families that have a hard time having fun and eating out at parks, etc because of allergy risks.
Rebecca Swenor says
This is totally an awesome app indeed for those with allergies. It could help so many when traveling in a different city. Thanks for sharing.

Sandra Zumbrun says
It’s great to know that Hershey Park has the Outpost, a restaurant that has great food choices for those with allergies. That way families are able to go there to eat without having to worry about one of their family members having a reaction to an allergy which would ruin their day at the park.

Betsy Barnes says
I grew up near Hershey Park and can remember going there every weekend. The eating there consisted of a few food trailers, so, my mom always packed a picnic. Things sure have changed! 🙂
Mia L says
It’s nice to see that amusement parks are starting to change up some of the food options that are available to accommodate everyone’s varying diets. On another note, I still have yet to visit Hershey Park!
Birdiebee says
I wished more food places would take food allergies seriously. I do not have celiacs disease but I do have a gluten intolerance. My mother has an allergy to MSG so it is rare to find a place for her to go out to eat. At home, I have to read all labels before cooking because MSG is disguised as other names. My granddaughter has a nut allergy so again this is a problem with many food places. Thanks for sharing this.
Christina Strapp says
This is really nice they offer a variety like this. Since so many people have allergies to different things.
Michael Lambert says
This is pretty great they offer this. I can only eat certain things and same thing with my daughter.
John H. says
This is great!
