Impulse is Coming

Knoebels Park in Winter

I’d heard that there was a new roller coaster going up at Knoebels this winter, so last week, I took the kids over to see what we could see.  I had never been to Knoebels when there was snow on the ground, so this was a new experience for all of us.  We wanted to see Knoebels park in winter.

Roller Coaster Supports

One of the first things we saw was this truck with a long support.  We saw a crane, so we figured they were about to unload the support from the truck.  I guess I didn’t really expect to see them building the roller coaster with snow on the ground, but I guess there isn’t much winter time without snow here in Pennsylvania, is there?  On that note, the geek in me sure would love to know how they deal with contraction and expansion with the extreme temperature swings up here.

Impulse Roller Coaster Parts in Parking Lot

The roller coaster parts were lying out in a neat formation out in the parking lot.  It looked like they probably have a system for where each place is put.  I’ve heard that since we were there, they now have track up.  I can’t wait to see their progress next time we go!

Miniature Golf

Look at the snow on the miniature golf course!  We can’t wait until it is warmer, and we can play miniature golf again!  Spring, oh, spring, where are you?

Phoenix with Snow

The snow on the coasters really looks pretty.  We saw someone up on the Phoenix, and he looked like he was cleaning it off.  It must take a lot to keep the rides top notch with the snow and ice here.

Antique CarsThe park does look a lot different in the snow, and while I do like the snow, (Well, except for having to drive to work in it…), I can’t wait for spring.  Why?  Because I can’t wait to get the kids back out and to the park.  Marvel Boy asked tonight when Knoebels would open again, so we looked at the calendar for the next season.  Marvel Boy is now looking forward to School Picnic days in May.
