I was recently given the opportunity to review math products from Math Mammoth. What stood out to me right away was that Maria Miller, the author of the math ebooks on the Math Mammoth website, has a master’s degree in mathematics with minors in physics and statistics. She defines herself as, “In a nutshell, I am a math teacher turned housewife and homeschooler.”
When I was asked what product I would like to review, I really didn’t know. Our current math program has worked well for the kids, so I sent Maria an email stating what we currently use and asked for her advice. Maria sent me an email with links to three ebooks, saying that they would fill some holes in our current curriculum, and she was spot on!
Measuring 1, Introduction to Fractions, and Early Geometry were the ebooks chosen for our family. These seem to be a great addition to our current curriculum and really do seem to fill the gaps.
I found the pages in these books to be very colorful, unlike some other math workbooks that we had in the past and now currently use. You may be asking why color makes such a big difference to me in math. Well, DS8 works better with colors. Adding color is one of the things that his occupational therapist suggested, and we have found that it works for him.
These ebooks are easy to use (as long as you have Adobe Reader and proper printer settings) and easy to incorporate into a normal homeschool day. I like that I can scroll through and choose what type of worksheet I want DS8 to do that day, and then, I just have to print that sheet out. The one thing that I wish these ebooks had were chapter titles on the content page that could be clicked to take me straight to that chapter.
Over all, I think these ebooks are a great addition to our current math curriculum and well worth the price. I will be buying from the Math Mammoth website for our future math needs, and I hope that you will consider stopping by and consulting Maria in the future.
