I have been blogging for almost 7 months. The time seems to have flown by!
When my husband and I started this blog, we really had no idea where it would lead us. We had no clue that we would meet people and actually obtain employment through the blog or social media of any style. This has really been a time of great enlightenment.
You may be asking what I mean by the word, enlightenment. What I have seen and experience in the blogging world has really opened my eyes to a few things!
- The “mega-bloggers” only get bigger and rarely look down. I feel like I can type this (no names mentioned in negative context) because the blogger that I’m referencing probably wouldn’t take the time of day to sniff at my post. During Blissdom time, I responded to a “mega-blogger” asking for other bloggers who were interested in joining a group. I DM’d her and explained that I was interested but was not at Blissdom. She DM’d back and requested my email address, saying that she would email me the specifics. Hmmm. Not even in my spam file! POINT #1 – No matter how big you are, you put your pants on the same way. If you say you are going to do something, do it! Quite a few of the “mega-bloggers” are actually businesses. If a major business didn’t follow through on their product claims, would you still purchase the product?
- There are many bloggers who are friendly and care. I had conversed quite frequently with Sarah over at Magical Days with the Mouse. She is a blogger who lives near Disneyland and goes to Disneyland quite often. When our family had the opportunity to make a quick trip to Disneyland, Sarah decided to meet up with us. I was a little nervous at first because really, we have no idea who is on the other side of the keyboard. We met up with Sarah, and she was such a friendly person! DS8 took to her right away and didn’t want to let go of her hand! DS8 gave her the ranking of his #2 favorite at Disneyland during that trip. That is really high praise because she was only second to the new Star Tours! Point #2 – Bloggers are real people! It might be a little out of your comfort zone to meet up with someone you met online, but you can get a good feeling of the person from their blog posts. We really enjoyed meeting Sarah and look forward to meeting others as time allows.
- Certain niche bloggers are very loyal to each other! Over the last few months, I have had the pleasure of conversing with several homeschooling, blogging, moms of special needs kids. Jennifer, Katey, Dawn, and Honey are a few that I have had conversations with by phone, email, blog comments, or Twitter. These are wonderful Christian bloggers who are really friendly and helpful! Actually, I have been working with Honey on my new business logo and business card design. She has really been able to lead me down the road to finding what will work. If you need any business design needs or a blog design, please contact Honey! Point #3 – We need to support each other! After reading Point #1, do you see the difference here? All of the bloggers that I mentioned in Points #2 and #3 have been blogging much longer than I have. These bloggers have shown me nothing but friendship and help when needed! Let’s be friendly to our fellow bloggers! When you see a blogger who is just starting and may need some comment love, leave a comment of encouragement. We all need a smile sometimes!

I really appreciate the designs that you have done for me, and I can’t wait for the time that I can have you redo this blog! I’m really hoping that we can get to know each other better!
Katey says
Aww thank you! Now we just need to plan our Disney Vacation…may have to be virtual though 🙁
homeschoolingdisneystyle says
No, thank you for your friendship! You never know about vacations. 😉

Thank you for your words of encouragement. We all need a “Barnabas,” and we need to be a Barnabas to others! It is a nice reminder that even though blogging is in the “virtual world,” real people are behind the words.

You’re welcome, and thank you for stopping by! Sometimes it is hard to see past the computer screen to the person on the other side. I find that I need to remind myself, too!

It is amazing the group of people you can connect with through social media and especially the Disney community! I too met Sarah through Twitter and she is just so sweet! So happy that your blog is such a success! I subscribe through e-mail and look forward to reading it every day!

You know… It’s not that my blog is really successful. It’s the people that I have met through it. I count myself more successful in blogging because of the friendships that I have made because of social media. I appreciate your reading my blog more than you could ever know!

Oh wow thank you for your kind words! It’s true that you really can develop strong friendships through blogging. I’ve met so called megabloggers, and some have been just like us (imagine!) and a few… Well I never liked cheerleaders much either. Lol

Almost swallowed my teeth! 😉 I never liked many of the cheerleaders much, either; however, there were a few really friendly ones.
