Changes are coming. Good changes… Great changes, even…
May 6th, I entered a contest to be one of 1200 people picked to ride the newly revamped Star Tours ride at Disneyland before it opened. I really didn’t think that I would get picked. I never have that kind of luck! However, earlier this week, I received an email saying that I was being considered for the event. All I had to do was to send back my full name and address, and I would hear back within 24 hours about whether or not I was eligible. That was one LONG 24 hour block of time! The next day, just 30 minutes shy of that 24 hour timeframe, I received an email saying that I was eligible. YAY!!!! Now, the problem… I am only allowed to take one person with me. I have two children. How am I supposed to pick just one??? Well, I should have known that I wouldn’t have a problem because DD11 immediately spoke up and said that I should take DS8. “He would enjoy it more than I would,” she said.
Now, we have less than one week to plan what usually takes me months to get lined out. We usually take longer trips than this one will be, and if you have been reading here long, you know that I usually sew, iron, paint, design, and print my way to vacation. We will be there for two days, and only one of those days will be in the park. I knew that the kids would need new autograph books, so I threw those together last night. I found the clip art that each child wanted and made simple covers. I like to use opaque pictures of the kids and their favorite events for the autograph sheets. The kids have had such wonderful character interaction with this. Nothing like watching Stitch motion for DS8 to show him all the different sheets. I laminated the covers, hole punched the cards, and threw the loops on, and then I was done. DS said that he needed a special shirt for the event, so I put some designs together and printed out the iron-on transfers last night. I’ll be able to iron those on this evening.
Another bit of good news and change is that I got on the TOS Crew!!! YAY!!! For those of you who aren’t familiar with this, the TOS Crew is a group of homeschooling families who review homeschool curriculum and other products for The Old Schoolhouse magazine. My kids are really looking forward to this! We did a review of an ebook about blue diamonds as my “test” for the TOS Crew, and they really enjoyed it. They are looking forward to the variety.

PS And what special kids you must have- to resolve your “situation” on their own… Good work Mom 😀
