Note to more experience seamstresses than I – I tried using a fusible like Wonder Under by bonding to one side before turning, and it seemed to add just the right amount of stiffness. If using the fusible, cut to fit inside the stitching of the outside fabric. Iron on to one side and allow to cool. When cool, remove paper backing and turn right side out. Stretch the fabric out by the seam from top to bottom. Cut a small piece of elastic 4 – 5″ long. Double into a loop, and tie the ends into a slip knot. Place the knot side into the open end of the fabric “sleeve”. Turn the edges of the open end to prepare to sew closed. Pin the elastic loop in place as pinning the edges. If using the fusible, iron the piece, taking care to leave the elastic untouched. Sew the edge shut, stitching over the elastic loop a couple of times to give extra strength. This picture shows what your piece should look like after this step.
