Redwood Creek Challenge Trail No one wanted to do school work today; however, it had to be done! We did Bible and writing first. Math was the worst! For some of DD11’s school work, she is supposed to be working at a board hanging on the wall to force her to use her arm muscles. Most of her problems were done one-by-one on the board. It seemed to take forever, but once she was ready to do the rest of her problems in her book, I took DS7 out to the living room to read his history. The subject for… Read More
There is nothing like a hug to put a smile on someone’s face. Why not give a hug today!
Ok, I know I usually start with a picture, but I learned a lesson today from a bird. Yes, you read that right! A bird taught me a lesson. The kids both were supposed to have OT and PT sessions today, but after we got up and got dressed, we got a phone call saying that one of the therapists was sick. The kids are rescheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday. After the phone call, I opened the blinds on the back door. There was a much wider variety of birds than I had seen before. Usually, we just have Juncos, but… Read More
What are we doing and why are we here? I never thought that I would write about this. I’m not sure why because it is nothing to be ashamed of. Nothing to be embarrassed of. It happens. Both of our children are tall! Of course, Charlie is just over 6 feet tall. Not really tall. Last spring when I realized that DD11 (then 10) seemed to be quickly gaining height, closing the gap on my 5 foot 6 inch frame, I was a little concerned. Not just because of the height but because of the entire picture. She is tall,… Read More
Dear Blog, I have neglected you today and maybe yesterday. What day is this? It has been a blur! We wanted snow, and we got it! I don’t know the official totals, but I think we have had just over a foot of snow since Wednesday morning. The kids and I have reacquainted ourselves with…the dreaded snow shovels. I have to say, though, that DS7 is quite the snow shoveler this year. He has improved so much this year! The two kids take off the top few inches, while I do the fine scraping. We were out several times on… Read More
So, we had a very anemic snow last week, but it was excellent packing snow. The kids and I went out and made a small snowman, a snow Mickey Mouse, and a snow Minnie Mouse. We didn’t get any of that nice snow that ended up in the East and had a rather brown Christmas, but we are expecting snow on Wednesday. We can’t wait!!!
As I sit here thinking about the remnants of presents under the tree, I wonder what I did wrong. The kids got what they asked for, at least most of it. Yet, there seemed to be some disappointment on their faces after the unwrapping was done. “Why,” I questioned, but no one could give me an answer. I think that I have that answer, though, based on an event that occurred two or three weeks before Christmas. On that day, we (all four of us) went to our local Walmart. Sitting at the entrance was a Salvation Army worker and… Read More
