Getting Ready for Our Homeschool DisneySide Party
There are quite a few homeschoolers in our area, but there doesn’t seem to be any groups nearby. I’ve connected with a few local homeschoolers on Facebook, and one of them decided we should start our own homeschool group. So, today, three families are meeting up for the first time to kick-start our group.
Last month, I received a box of goodies in order to throw a DisneySide party, so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to share the Disney spirit. What better way to start a homeschool group than a homeschool DisneySide party?
Last night, I made these great cupcakes that we will decorate at the party. I had never made one of these cakes before. Truth be told, I had seen them in the store but thought it would be too much work. But, I’m glad that this cake mix was included in our DisneySide party box because I was so wrong in my assumption.
We started out by making the batter. Then, we divided it into 6 bowls. The dye is in the box, and the back of the box included simple instructions to make the 6 different colors out of the 3 packs of dye included. So, this could be a good lesson on colors and mixing colors.
This cake mix is for cakes; however, I wanted cupcakes. I spooned a small spoonful of each color into each cupcake well. The goal is to layer them in, not mix. Then, I baked them about 20 minutes at 350.
They turned out so neat, and I can’t wait to see the kids decorate them today. We’ve packed frosting, sprinkles, and small Oreos to make Mickey ears. We’ve also got a bag packed full of DisneySide activities and prizes.
We can’t wait to meet our new homeschool friends and have a great time today!
