Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
I recently tried out PicLight from the iTunes app store and used it on my MacBook Pro. To start with, this app is only $4.99, so the price alone lets you know that this app doesn’t do a whole lot. It does crop and gives the ability to do different lighting and texture effects on your photos. I’ve seen some compare it to Instagram, but honestly, I don’t think that is really a good comparison. Instagram gives different filters and that is about it. PicLight offers several different filters plus the ability to combine the filters.
I used the Montage filter to change up the photo background a little bit. There were several different options plus the ability to change to black and white or sepia.
This is one of the lights effects available. I think this was my favorite section as it really highlighted Cinderella’s Castle.
This is from the glow effects section. I liked some of them but found that many covered up the subject of my photos.
I guess I’m not really into changing the texture of the photo. There were many options, but I wasn’t really thrilled with any of them. I guess it is just something that you either really like or don’t like.
If you are looking for a way to change up lighting effects of your photos on a Mac, PicLight seems like a good option for the price. I do usually like for my apps to do more than one thing, though.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
