Educational Insights is a company devoted to providing learning products for children of a variety of ages. My favorite line from Educational Insights is their GeoSafari line, so I was excited when they offered to send me one of their GeoSafari Omega Refractor Telescopes to review. Actually, my daughter was excited because it arrived right before her birthday.
On the back of the box, it tells a little about what you can expect to see with the telescope.
It also tells the technical specifications.
This is where the interest really picked up! Everything was packed concisely which made it easy to find the parts and to put them together. There was no problem finding the right pieces and where they went.
Soon, the last part was put on, and it was time to take it outside to check it out.
It sure made things seem much closer than they actually were!
There are several pros and cons to this particular telescope. Pros: Great beginning scope for ages 8-14, light-weight, easy to assemble, easy to focus during the day. Cons: It is best left together, so it would be good to have a place to store it. We have disassembled it part way. Also, it is difficult to focus at night. I’m sure that we will eventually get the hang of it, but it will definitely take some more practice.

We have all wanted a telescope for years, but we’re just too cheap to invest in one. I think Gracie would benefit from it the most, but I can see our whole family going out no clear nights and using it! Great giveaway!

I want this for me! But is that terrible? Okay, for my 13 year old daughter. We lived in China for most of her childhood and never saw stars (overcast, polluted skies). Now that we are in USA, we love star gazing.
